    Quite good!

Product Manager (Current Employee) Paris (France)

Pros* One of the leading telecommunication company in EU / the world.
    * Plenty of opportunities to evolve vertically [on different jobs].
    * brilliant top management anticipating the futur & taking good strategical decisions.

Cons* Possible to fall in a team where inertia is so strong it is difficult to make change happen.
    * No salary evolution after 30 years old [difficult to keep motivated in this environment].
    * Managers [N+1, N+2] are generally really weak. Low level of earning from them.

Advice to Senior Management* Build a real talent management program to build on talents and make poor profiles leave.
[for talents: open more horizontal opportunities with salary increase perspectives, etc].

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

huge company with numerous employees but lack of good opportunity for young generation.

Marketing Strategy Analyst (Former Employee) Paris (France)

ProsFormal national company, which has good benefit package for employees. Formal employee has 5 weeks paid vacation, and up to 20 days RTT. That makes around 9 weeks paid absent days.

ConsCompany constantly uses interns and short-tern employees, in order to avoid labor costs. Bureaucracy and heavy and flat hierarchy allow few opportunity to get promotion. Very hard for native graduates to get CDI not mention for foreigners.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe company has to loss some weight on its senior management. Too many people have been working in the company for over 20 years. It leaves no place to young generation to bring some new dynamic force to the company.

Very good treatment of employees but government agency like management style

Business Analyst (Current Employee) Paris (France)

ProsLow work pressure, reasonnable pay, humane management style

ConsAverage age of emplyees is around 50 years, management will do all it can so you don't stand out from the croud meaning you get the same salary increase/ bonus whithout distinction of your performance or commitment. Basically, salary increase is only based on your seniority within the group. 70% of the employees are public servants that cannot be laid-off meaning they have no incentive to improve their productivity

Advice to Senior ManagementPay public servants an early retirement plans and get people back to work before France Telecom loses all sense of initiative and becomes a huge retirement home.....

7 good years as a Software Development Engineer at France Telecom

Software Development Engineer (Former Employee) Paris (France)

ProsBig company, paying attention to the well-being and development of employees (at least in France), good compensation package, and a lot of internal opportunities thanks to the size of the company. Good training policy.

ConsI found processes and layers of management to be overwhelming sometimes. It does some good of course in some projects but it can also mean that simple and small projects become big projects as soon as you need to put them into production

Marketing Director (Current Employee) Paris (France)

Pros- capacity to move from one position to another easily
    - international company : interesting jobs in many countries
    - work life balance very good, especially in France

    Cons- no career management
    - low salaries
    - lot's of red tape
    - focus on limiting costs more than innovation

Advice to Senior Managementmore rewards in line with the performance, stop only promoting poyltechnique guys, open your recruitment to other profiles

    Mediocre middle-management

Technical Expert (Current Employee) Sophia Antipolis (France)

    ProsPaid every month. For now.

ConsMost of middle-management do not have a clear view of market needs, and don't understand technologies that could provide required products and services. Consequently, they are unable to decide on a clear strategy.

There is no career progression plan for technical experts. This means that people wanting to get some salary increase have to become managers, even if they do not like this, and are very bad at it.

R&D is currently being torn down. This will not help the company to survive...

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate a real career progression path for technical experts. But, more importantly, ensure mediocre managers are put in positions where they are harmless, and replace them by real, knowledgeable managers.

Company in transformation from a public telecom operator to a market driven organization.

Project Manager (Former Employee) Paris (France)

    Pros- reasonable pressure
    - great potential
    - good opportunities to change function and geographic area
    - 45 days of holidays per year
    - good work-life balance

Cons- still not enough business driven
    - a lot of politics
    - salaries are not competitive enough to attract the best talent
    - did not succeed in providing new services and is struggling in competition with companies such as Google etc.

    Planplan

Web Dev (Former Employee) Toulouse (France)

ProsToulouse, R&D has a reasonable pace, good enough employees at the time I was there, and even a few pretty skilled ones. Relaxed work environment is nice, though I hear it's not the case everywhere in the company.

ConsSlow as hell at times, something like 3-4 months full on work and 6 months waiting for what's next. Boredom had me leave.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
