I worked at Franciscan Medical Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I always had great coworkers, supervisors, and managers. Most seemed to really be living Franciscan's core values. For the work I did, I felt like I was fairly compensated, and the benefits weren't bad.

    Cons

Senior leadership and parent company don't reflect core values. It's a big company that's part of an even bigger company, so it's easy to get lost and feel as if you don't have a voice.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people actually doing the work, and take their suggestions for process improvements.

I worked at Franciscan Medical Group (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Employed for 7 years. Good benifits, health plans,

    Cons

Once you are strong and vital at a location good luck moving. Communication with managers was horrible. Be the one who did everything go abo Nex ve and beyond, don't expect any recognition or appreciation.

    Advice to Management

Reward the ones who do the work. When you spend the time and money on surveys about management actually do something about it. Franciscan is not what it used to be. Its all about the money and not the care.

  3. Management above that of clinical managers is way out of touch

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Franciscan Medical Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers and providers. Decent PTO and other benefits.

    Cons

Overworked clinical nursing staff to the point of dangerous burnout, particularly in the specialties with lots of office procedures and nurse visits. No time to handle administrative duties, i.e. prior auth for medications, managing all the medication inventories, let alone pt call-backs, diagnostic notifications, scheduling treatments. Loved my job when I started but with the advent of EPIC, decline quickly followed as well as poor morale. No work/life balance. So burned out, don't have energy to do anything after work. Weekends are spent catching up on sleep. The situation is dangerous to say the least. Imagine if the Sisters knew the true state of affairs, they'd be appalled. Couldn't take anymore so quit. The God I believe in wouldn't want this for me. Pay is subpar. The compensation department is failing the company.

    Advice to Management

Don't make any changes or institute new policies at the clinic level without consulting the staff these changes will affect. Listen to the cries for more staff even if it means the upper echelons have to take a pay cut. Walk the talk of the core values.

I have been working at Franciscan Medical Group as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Competent staff, good people to work with. Frequent raises, most of the physicians are very nice to work with. The pay is higher at FMG than many of the surrounding fascilities.

    Cons

Scheduling has been a challenge that does not seem to be getting rectified any time soon. Change is a very slow process as with any large organization.

    Advice to Management

My only advice would be to curtail the gossip, as with any clinic there is a lot of he said/she said, and a minority employees have fueled the fire.

I have been working at Franciscan Medical Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Passionate committment from staffy who are rallied to support the mission of providing healthcare to anyone, regardless of ability to pay

    Cons

Limited growth opportunities in non-clinical roles; overall slow to adapt to changes as an organization

I have been working at Franciscan Medical Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, opportunity to learn new things. Many staff and providers really care and show the core values of the organization.

    Cons

Decisions are now made at CHI, the parent company, which is out of state and out of touch with local needs. This is no longer a local company with decisions being made with the local community in mind.

    Advice to Management

Stay in touch with staff that actually do the work. Inform staff of expectations and then hold them accountable, this is not consistent.

  8. A company more concerned about finances than patients and employees

    Pros

Great pay, good benefits, room to grow by moving into new positions

    Cons

    Lots of outsourcing, unfriendly departments

    Advice to Management

Care more about the patient experience and put more faith in your employees. Outsourcing is not always the best things for patients OR employees.

    Pros

Many locations and the ability to transfer to different offices/hospitals, faith based

    Cons

Facilities are ran down and some offices are not physically conducive to patient privacy, staff is often denied the basic tools needed to be successful at their jobs. Thankfully, the job market is improving and opportunities are arising which means great employees are able to find employment elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Learn more about your staff and what their positions entails

  10. It was a great place to work until our department manager resigned and a new shift lead came on board.

I have been working at Franciscan Medical Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a great team to work with. The nurses are professional and kind and most will go out of their way to help in any way possible.

    Cons

The clinic is open on Saturdays, which puts a strain on any social life you may have. Personalities tend to clash, cliques form and high school attitudes create some serious conflicts.

    Advice to Management

Reassess who you have in lead positions, interview employees who are working with those people and terminate those who are incompetent and/or impossible to work with.

    Pros

-great people to work with - organization is growing rapidly , a lot of opportunities - Benefits are Ok

    Cons

    - just go to work and work hard and get out of there. Depending on which area you go to Sr. Leadership has favorites. Lots of gossip and backbiting. -

    Advice to Management

Focus on how you treat people!
