I have been working at Franklin Retail Solutions full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-Upper Management actively engages with employees to seek feedback and opinions to help shape the future direction of the company.

-Partners with the largest brands in the sporting goods industry to create the most impactful presentations to promote added Sell-Through.

-Talented group of employees dedicated to bringing added value to our partners and to their co-workers on a daily basis.

-Evolving business model; expanding our service to a full-service model, offering market solutions based on in-store feedback gathered by the field force. Increased capacity of current employees to evolve their role and responsibilities within the company.

-Owner/President of the company is a phone call away.

    Cons

With the expansion of a new office and many of the employees working from their own home offices, need to schedule more face-to-face meetings with all members of the organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider expanding the company's focus beyond the traditional sporting goods retailers, creates more possibilities for our market.

Continue to seek feedback from your employees, that fact that our views are heard is greatly appreciated by all.

    Pros

The team of people actually doing the work are stellar. There have been employees that work extremely hard to make a difference and are committed to success.

    Cons

There's a lot of talking and very little action.
The "leadership" team is not trustworthy and the owner speaks terribly about the employees.
Regardless of the steadfast dedication of employees, there is no recognition and the employees will ultimately be blamed for the shortcomings of the company and the loss of business.
The company culture is non existent. There is no leadership in the company. The owner is lost and the president is unfocused, unproductive and ineffective. There is no company wide communication. The president has to be the yes man to the owner or he won't be the president any longer.
The review posted on this site that are positive are clearly from the president himself. There are only about 30 employees and no employee would write this type of glowing review.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop driving talented and committed employees away. Start taking responsibility for the loss of business and truly start caring about your employees. They shouldn't be "disposable" as you like to consider them to be. Get to know this business.

I have been working at Franklin Retail Solutions

    Pros

The flexibility of the schedule is the main reason that people would stay with the job. Building and maintaining excellent professional relationships with key in-store personnel and management as well as the entire teams in store to ensure client growth and profitability. Some great office personnel and team players. During the good years I was used for traveling to locations for mending relationships and coverage to ensure the Franklin name is recognized and in good standing.

    Cons

It used to be that you would stay because there was a team environment that was somewhat present and the District Managers and office managers would reach out to the field reps to see how everything was going and get feedback on the pros and cons of the job. Now it just seems like everyone is in their own bubble and the communication breakdown is apparent when looking at field reps schedules and account managers project dates (which are sometimes added at the last second or the start day of the project).

There is huge potential for a better structure of business which seems like they are trying to achieve, but right now the issue seems to be wanting retail driven results without having the retail business structure. i.e.: DM doing exactly the same thing as the Sell Through Specialist with the addition of minor DM responsibilities. DM's focus should be team building in their region which cuts costs on recruiting, ensuring QUALITY driven results in each market by observing relationships between reps and store management, and promoting growth for sell through specialists to make them feel like a bigger part of the team and the mission statement of the company. Also, lack of consistency within the auditors communications between each other occasionally resulting in confusing audits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on communication with reps in the field and observe their strengths and weaknesses. This could be potentially profitable and beneficial for other key roles in the company where help may be needed or change should occur. Degrees are important but those can be attained while working. People skills and knowing how to not create issues by looking at the big picture (in office and challenges out in the field) cannot be taught to everyone. Those with these strengths should be in key positions within the organization such as training, account managers, DM's, and so forth. Some are in the correct positions and do exceptionally well but there should be some consistency across the board. A good company to work for but growth potential is extremely limited especially by low pay scales and lack of available promotion. Ask me a few years ago I would have said 5 stars for most of the categories.

I worked at Franklin Retail Solutions as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

You can create your schedule and you don't have to always work with someone

    Cons

There is not any formal training, you have to travel far distances, they have the "right" to "reject" projects if they feel that you have not been efficient with your work. And they are always adding projects even after complete your months worth. You might as well work in retail where you have a break room, 15 min breaks and your going to be getting paid the same thing as you would traveling to another city. They also have you do a lot of unnecessary things like ask employees questions that don't have anything in relation to what you are doing. They are supposed to give you 15 minutes to submit a project but really they want you to do that on your own time. And everything has to be submitted before midnight. There is an insinuative but its not anything great and they have the right to not give you that insinuative if they feel you have not been productive. You are seriously much better off working retail. And your a contractor. I do not recommend this job. You will spend more on gas that you would have earned in a project.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train employees, cut all the BS and let the contractor just merchandise. Make it simple. The reporting is too complicating and there is not "friendly" there is always a hassle trying to create your schedule.

I have been working at Franklin Retail Solutions full-time

    Pros

Sporting goods clients hold some cache

    Cons

Franklin has some serious upper management and professionalism issues. The company has experienced many changes over the past few years, and suffered the effects of poor and unprofessional business practices stemming from upper management, and trickling all the way down. From their firing practices, to the profanities used in formal meetings, management has no problem making employees uncomfortable.

Not to mention the unethical business practices. Lying to your biggest client, breaking the agreements of the contact, then sending company wide emails asking employees to "not mention it"... poor ethics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most of the upper management has jumped ship in the past few months.. perhaps they see where this company is headed

I have been working at Franklin Retail Solutions

    Pros

The pay is good. It's based on projects completed, not hourly, and often comes out as a decent pay. Also, there is some gas allowance along with monthly incentive for completing all your projects. You are assigned a territory, so you have many of the same stores to visit regularly which makes it nice as you get to know others in those stores. The people working with the company have all been great and very friendly. Information given per projects are very thorough. The flexibility with in your months work is great. It definitely feels like a very stable company. As far as merchandising goes, it's better than most.

    Cons

Communication "individually" isn't always that great. Often it's difficult to get a response to a question when needed. There isn't much on the job training. You are kind of thrown in there to figure out much on your own. And, there isn't much room for error. If you forget a photo or make a mistake, your report may not get approved, which may result in not getting paid for that project or your monthly incentive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look for a little feedback from your Sell Through Specialist. We may know better about what's going on in the stores and it might be beneficial. It would be great to have more communication on a regular basis. Perhaps a monthly online meeting where we can share and discuss what's going on in the field. Maybe get some of those questions answered that I've waiting months for!
