I worked at Fred Meyer part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay was somewhat competitive but had to make sure that HR was on the same page as what I was offered.

    Cons

They don't keep great records of employment; when I was hurt at work they made up lies about my employment with them inserting write ups that never happened. This came out in court; as I had never seen them before and never signed them.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees more and give them the time of day.

I worked at Fred Meyer part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Most of the coworkers are very nice

    Cons

Management is HORRIBLE Training process is a joke Barely minimum wage and they force you to join the stupid Union which takes half of your pay Was terminated with no prior performance review or written/verbal warning Work was worth WAY more than minimum wage

    Advice to Management

Learn how to nurture and aid in your employee's success instead of cutting them loose

I worked at Fred Meyer (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Never had to worry about asking for more hours, decent to great pay depending on position, pretty flexible for when you ask for time off

    Cons

Very strict attendance rules, management can be difficult due to constant changes as upper management moves from store to store frequently

    Advice to Management

A larger sense of permanence from management would be nice so you could get to know who you're working for, and so you can build more rapport between employee and employer.

I worked at Fred Meyer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

As a member of a union, my pay was pretty good for a retail position. I really like about half of the managers, while the other half were not very pleasant. The scheduling is pretty flexible when you need time off.

    Cons

It is a giant corporation, so expect to feel like you are just a cog in the machine.

    Advice to Management

    Be positive!
