    Pros

Good job security. Benefits are great. A variety of work can be done and different shifts are available as well.

    Cons

Lack of communication between management and employees. Management tends to treat any situation like it's an issue and like the employee is in trouble.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like they mean something to the company. And appreciate and acknowledge when employees are doing a good job.

    Pros

It was good pay for the job (working at the deli) and had good coworkers.

    Cons

Sometimes we had to wash dishes until late and it was not the times I had signed up for initially.

    Advice to Management

Try to make the schedules more convenient for students that have to work and go to school also.

    I worked at Fred Meyer

    Pros

Everybody is generally pretty nice. Even though you work a retail schedule (weekends, nights), the manager was pretty accommodating in my desire to work a stable set of hours instead of swing shifts.

If you want to work in retail, there are opportunities to move into different departments and move up.

    Cons

No place that I really wanted to move up and work in.

    Pros

Works with my schedule, very flexible - keeps the focus on putting the customer first always

    Cons

A lot of people get jobs and promotions based on who they know, not what they know

    Advice to Management

Remember people have a life outside of work...

    Pros

    Great culture
    Great people
    Fun work environment

    Cons

Career progression seems political, and based more on personal connections than performance.

    Advice to Management

I think management could consider providing more transparency within the organization around pay, career progression and the business

    Pros

Best thing as a parcel is you got to talk to different persons everyday.

    Cons

Of course, this is a retail job. So what can we expect with the pay. It would be minimum wage and not worth the work efforts. There are so many things to do especially those busy hours.

    Pros

Working for Fred Meyer was interesting. They had good room for growth within the company and they had good support for their employees. The management teams were incredibly enthusiastic about working for Fred Meyer, and emphasized the possibility of a lifetime career with the company. It's a good job if you are in high school or college, as their hours are flexible and they're conscientious of students' schedules.

    Cons

There were no benefits, pay was minimum wage, and the work environment was rough. A lack of windows, florescent lighting, and having to walk 24/7 for the job, wasn't fabulous. I had originally applied for a cashier position and I got the job. However, they didn't realize I wasn't 18 at the time, until after they hired me. You have to be 18 years of age to go through the cashier training program. After they realized they had made a huge mistake, they immediately offered me a position in the apparel department, which I took. I left after 2 months, after I was given a better job offer.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention during the hiring process
