Current Employee – been working at Freeport-McMoRan full-time for more than a year
Pros – Complex mine and you can learn alot.
Cons – if you are liked by management you can get all the opportunities you want while other are left behind. Warning! Racism exist at all level at the Morenci mine especially if you work at the engineering office. If you are Black this is not a place to venture.
If you are hard working you can learn alot on you own even if you are not trained or developed by the management team there. Only the liked light skinned get opportunities to grow and develop.
They dont respect engineers here especially if you are international or on H1B. Run form this place if you can.
Advice to Senior Management – Be fair and open to every human being u deal with. Stay in line with corporate polices when dealing with ppl careers or life.

Current Employee – been working at Freeport-McMoRan full-time for less than a year
Pros – Very positive employee benefit package. Compensation structure is very good. Side benefits like commuting assistance, lunches, free drinks and event tickets are a ncie touch.
There is plenty of work that is interesting and challenging.
Cons – Due to the bonus structure in the exempt and senior management ranks there seems to be some misdirection of efforts and projects. The structure is based not on Management by Objectives or clear expectation and employment reviews, but on a group of directors saying yes or no to each bonus. So, if you do not interact with the directors, or if you do not jump up to appease them and their whims, it hurts your chances for a good bonus.
Advice to Senior Management – Instil a more formalized annual employee review process. Add structure and clear expectations so that we can move forward on the things that the company deems importatnt, not the weekly whims of the directors.

Current Employee – been working at Freeport-McMoRan full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – They are very generous with time off, holidays, and yearly rewards. The people are great as well. Culturally the company is a little different but I've learned to just go with it. It's kind of fun.
Cons – Difficult to move up, somewhat of a boys club, and difficult to get work done when policy from upper management is inconsistent.

Former Employee – worked at Freeport-McMoRan as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Great people, great pay, and big jobs! An eye-opening experience to help learn new skills and further develop skills in mining/construction/engineering. Freeport provides all the necessary training to step foot on site of some of the biggest operations you will ever see. I highly recommend applying if you like to work hard and start a serious career.
Cons – I loved every part of my internship experience. There wasn't one bad thing about it.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you're doing. Mgmt was very motivating and supportive throughout my entire internship. I honestly enjoyed every minute of every day working for FCX. I did not want to leave and now I can't wait to get back to work.
