Pros
Great people and skill sets
Cons
Management not looking long term
Advice to Senior Management
Loyalty and employee value should be rewarded
Pros
- Very Talented Employees
- Excellent number of PTO days (new Employees get 4 weeks of PTO, with a one week increase at 8 years and 15 years)
- Able to move within the company (but in most cases, the individual must chat with senior leadership)
- Freescale has successfully worked hard to turn a profit for many quarters (but they still have to buy down a huge debt)
- Freescale produces quality products
Cons
- Company still has too much debt from when they went private
- Poor Medical Benefits
- No stock options for non-management employees
- Received a lousy keychain when company IPO'ed
- Poor Employee Compensation
- Lay off US employees and immediately hired abroad
- Need more new hires. Employees worked to the breaking point.
- Need to hire Interns, CO-OPs, and fresh outs to get a fresh perspective. The US staff is aging.
- Some of the groups have a "That's not how it's always been done before" attitude.
- Career advancement is very difficult
- Freescale infrastructure is aging and not being maintained (buildings are falling apart, service contracts are being cancelled or reduced)
Advice to Senior Management
Start compensating talented workers. Have solid roadmaps and plans for the future. Start caring more about the employees and less about Blackstone and making investors happy.
Pros
Great product line.
Excellent microprocessor design talents.
Rigorous sign-off procedures.
Interdisciplinary support staff.
Advanced training programs.
Regular global symposiums.
Access to fabrication experts.
Cons
Awkward management decisions.
Financially pressured balance sheet.
Inability to recover from losing leadership positions in critical design spaces.
Bland and generic roadmap.
Advice to Senior Management
It is extremely crucial to eliminate the behemoth debt that has been thrust upon the company, and to do so in a way that burdens those who are reponbsible for booking the problem.
Pros
Good learning resource, nice people to work with, good work life balance if meet the right manager. good benifit.
Cons
less pay increase and less promotion opportunity. Need to work on rewards and keep talent . Need to have system to motivate employee.
Advice to Senior Management
Maybe in our team only, need to create more opportunity for career development. Need to remove more unecessary report to improve job efficiency.
Pros
Work life balance
Flexible time
No office politics
Cons
Severe lack of challenges
Unequal load of work assigned to individuals
Structured knowledge sharing between older, more experienced workers and new hires is almost non-existent
Advice to Senior Management
More structured training for new employees
Empower them by proper recognition (not just trophies but financial compensation as well)
More challenges for new employees
Pros
Open door policy
Engineers are empowered for most part
Good communication within and across fans
Cons
Employee growth and career growth slow
Extremely stressful
Advice to Senior Management
Please focus on HR development
Pros
Time off
Work life balance
Ability to move around
Cons
Salary compensation
Business groups work in silos
Pros
The people are great, and it is an awesome place.
Cons
No defined career path, and lack of organized professional growth.
Advice to Senior Management
Help employees better use the abilities they have, and develop the skills that need attention. Don't expect them to do it themselves. There is a reason they are good at certain things and lack on others.
Pros
Good salary and benefits. Flexible work environment
Cons
Not allowed to deliver a level of customer service that I am comfortable with. Focus has always been on cutting costs and moving jobs out of the county.
Pros
Generous Paid time off policy (starting at 4 weeks, and bumping as high as 6 weeks, not including holidays). Flexible work arrangements. Competent coworkers.
Cons
Compensation is severely lagging the competition. The company simply has too much debt now to do anything. All of that money that should be going towards R&D and employee recognition is instead going towards interest on their massive debt.
