    I worked at Freescale Semiconductor

    Pros

You start off with a lot of vacation and they have two bonuses a year.

    Cons

This place reinvents itself every 2 or 3 years, Layoffs are part of the culture. Don't ever get sick or have a bad year or that will be your last. The Tempe location is not the brains of the company so little is recognized at this location. A large emphasis is being placed on hiring H1B Visa holders.
This is the most cold hearted company I have ever worked for. They try and pretty it up with corporate events but they just don't click. Everyone is stressed.
They have so many layoffs that you have to empty your own garbage. Vacuuming hardly ever occurs. The building is old and tired looking.

I have been working at Freescale Semiconductor full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very good benefits for vacation, relocation, health, ESPP, and 401K. Mediocre compensation but COL in AZ is much cheaper than East and West coast.. Good balance between work and life because workforce is in middle age.

    Cons

People are very conservative and not willing to take risk. People lack motivation to solve technical issues. Very customer oriented at the expense of company resources. Engineers are complacent and do not take initiative to set aggressive goal and objectives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Define goal and objectives for each department to meet at each stage of production. Set metrics for each department so that monetary bonus is rewarded based on achievement of these metrics.
Set up department meeting to communicate both business and policy initiatives.

I have been working at Freescale Semiconductor full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great, competent engineers to work with. You can learn much from some industry technical experts.

    Cons

Many of the great reasons to work at Freescale are dismantled. Unrealistic schedules, sub standard engineering compute environment. Common tasks take 2-10 times longer than they did 18 months ago after the upgrade.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are moving backwards! Change gears and pull forward.

Good Salary, Straight HR policies (no complex policies), No strict fixed timings, and work from home is also a plus.
