    Pros

    Well what is promised, its simple really you get commission based on the numbers of sales you make. Now you have to hit a quota to get that sweet commission check.

    Frankly the only way to make money in that place is either get really lucky, or have great interpersonal skills to be able to convince a giant corporation to ship with you. (You would have to be in the Truckload department.. most LTL agents make nothing

    Advice to Management

    Well, I know I said what I needed to say when I left. As Employees you are encouraged to do the best you can, and the tools are there. Yet when I was there it turned into a churn environment with Turnover rates tripling since the move to Trinity. I will also be honest in this, just because you all drive your sports cars to FreightCenter and make it a point to say that could be us one day..It will never happen

    Pros

    If you can fog up a mirror, you can get a job at FreightCenter, despite your experience, education, appearance or criminal background.

    Cons

    Everything every other reviewer has written about this place is true. Really sad to experience how badly run this business is, and how bad management treat employees. Sales professionals are paid well below industry standard, and treated like 2nd rate citizens. Management doesn't have the slightest idea what they are doing are dishonest and manipulative.

    Advice to Management

    Management is the problem. They are unemployable in any other company, there really isn't anything you can say that would help these people.

    Pros

    If you need a paycheck. They pay but not good. So if you are desperate for a paycheck. Work there and get out ASAP

    Cons

    Pay is way under industry standard. Management is horrible. No one likes working there. The owner is horrible at running a business. He Knows nothing about shipping freight. They will probably be out of business soon.

    Advice to Management

    There are some good managers and workers there. GET OUT OF THERE!! If you make decent money at freight center. You can make a ton more money elsewhere in sales.

    Promises of great opportunity but most employees live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to participate in the 401K.

    Pros

    Will hire almost anyone so if you have little or no experience you have a good chance of getting a job.

    Cons

    Keep changing the compensation plan, low wages, ownership and executives are disconnected from the plight of it's employees. Salaried jobs are 30 to 40% below the market. No performance review process that could lead to increased compensation. Spiffs are candy bars, lame/cheap items, half day off WITHOUT PAY! If you've earned vacation time and decide to leave, forget about getting paid for it. Company policy says if you have unused paid time off you lose it if you leave the company voluntarily or involuntarily. Absurd!

    Executives don't follow their own company policies. Most employees can't afford to participate in the 401K or take the insurance offerings. Things you find out AFTER you take the job.

    Advice to Management

    Bring wages, promotions, benefits and office culture up to market standards. Most employees leave withing 90 to 180 days.

    Pros

    Co-workers were friendly, Office is clean and new. In all honestly I can't come up with 20 words to say are PROS for working there. It's just a dead end job that fills the void till something better comes along. A means to an end.

    Cons

    The Ownership and management is the real problem with FreightCenter. They are truly greedy, self-centered and arrogant, and they will prove this to you in the morning meetings. FreightCenter believes in treating highly paid & skilled employees like they are disposable workers. To say FreightCenter is a revolving door is an understatement. In my almost 2 years with FreightCenter I seen 8 highly skilled employees get fired or walkout in frustration, a total lack of respect for talent and never once heard anyone say "Thank you" for going above and beyond. The FreightCenter way is work people as hard as they can till they break then replace them. Work there at your own Risk.

    Ha, Advice to Management assumes they respect this comment enough to read it. Nah, I can't tell management any that everyone else hasn't already said.

    Pros

    Can think of any , low pay,commission percents per sales low,people steal account from one another and manangement does say nothing,they keep adding fees on top of sales taking your profit away,for the most part some of the employee's are okay,

    trying to earn a living,while they keep asking you to do more for less,constant bagering in group meetings, it's never enough no matter what you do

    non-existent, try to listen what the employee's suggest, realize that if employee's are compenstated better,they will do a better job,instead of offering small gift's for unreachable goals,

    Pros

    For a LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight broker, they provide a decent service. You will get cheaper pricing going through them, than by going directly to the carrier. However, getting an actual quote on their website is tricky, as most people have never shipped freight before, and their weight and NMFC codes are generally incorrect... (see Rebills below) The IT department were always helpful, and the customer service people were awesome too. The co-employees were very nice, and shared the camaraderie of being in a job they really didn't want to be. Occasional spiffs for sales incentives - a free car wash, gift certificate, etc. Free bagels on Fridays and holiday parties.

    Cons

    Your accounts are not yours - expect sharky-ness from your fellow sales representatives. In-bound calls are fielded to the favorites on the sales floor. At the time, we were expected to make 100+ calls a day with 4 hours of talk time. This meant calling accounts, that may not ship frequently or were 1-time shippers, over and over again to the point of ticking them off. Expect to work an "optional" weekend shift once a month, and expect to work longer than your shift, if your numbers aren't up. The biggest obstacle was rebills by the carriers. Every freight shipment is subject to being weighed and reclassified by the carrier - with the customer being charged for the extra amount. This was due to customer error, agent error, and carrier error. FreightCenter would charge their credit cards on file, sometimes for hundreds of dollars, and it was hard to not sympathize with the customer. Lots of complaints on the internet and BBB, which is unfortunate, because I believe there is a sincere attempt at FreightCenter to provide a good service.

    Advice to Management

    In the 6 months I was there, I saw at least 6 managers terminated, including one person that had recently been made a partner (unsure of exact title) of the company. Some of the managers are related to the owners (nepotism), and I question their management skills. A high turn-over rate is a sign that your management structure is not working. Sorry, but free bagels and ice cream sandwiches don't cut it when your simply trying to make an honest living.

    Pros

    The coworkers are generally good people who don't mind helping you out even if costs them some time. Had a few who really helped me out with shipments when I wasn't there.

    Cons

    The pay sucks and to make any kind of decent money you need to hit sales goals. These goals are almost always not attainable unless you hit the jackpot with a new account that ships a ton. Management will try and steer accounts away from newer people so good luck with that.

    Ridiculously micromanaged by people who don't care about you since they figure you'll leave soon anyway. When interviewed, was told cold calling was practically non-existent but that is the go to response from a supervisor when you ask for leads. A supervisor once claimed you wouldn't get paid for time already worked if you made any kind of time error because they were tired of correcting mistakes.

    Turnover is insane, at times there were multiple people who quit a day and they still fired those who didn't hit monthly goals regardless of what they'd done in the past. Outside of a few employees and supervisors pretty much everyone started within the past year. There are constant new training classes and talk of expansion yet often people ran out of leads and were told to cold call.

    Starting hours are ridiculous, you won't be able to work a normal schedule until you've been there a year or so and as previously stated no one lasts that long.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on quality instead of taking anyone who can tie their shoes, stop parking your Lamborghini, Porsche, and Escalade right outside the building, and pretend like you care about the employees.

    Pros

    Friendly environment, friendly people most of the time

    Cons

    Decisions are often made with little or no thought behind them; good employees are gotten rid of for giving good advice that people don't want to hear, blame gets shifted all the time but nobody takes responsibility; the benefits are absolutely terrible and the pay is on the lower scale.

    Advice to Management

    If you care about quality, focus on quality. Spend some money to save some money. Listen when people tell you suggestions.

    Pros

    Some cool co-workers alongside; other than that nothing

    Cons

    Hourly pay is substandard, but they promise bonuses off of sales. However to reach sales figures that would have reasonable bonuses, you would need accounts that ship often or in higher quantities, but those accounts only go to a select few account managers.

    Advice to Management

    Stop treating employees like dogs. Constant new hire training sessions each week you would think would overflow the building, but there are enough people quitting that they can afford to keep the door revolving
