I worked at FreightWatch as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Highly interesting array of products and services with an excellent track record...knowing the company is at the top of its game is reassuring, even when smaller workplace issues arise. The facilities are top-notch, the company history is compelling, and the small but dedicated marketing department is flexible and easy to work with on the whole. Compensation terms were more than fair for contract work.

    Cons

The marketing department uses basecamp for project management and communication, which made direct communication and feedback more difficult for contract workers.

I have been working at FreightWatch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The starting pay is decent, and the other reps are good to work with.

    Cons

Too many unneccessary issues to deal with concerning customers' demands. The raises, when provided, are nothing to get excited about.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management really needs to learn to tell the customer, "NO!"

I have been working at FreightWatch

    Pros

Great team to work with. The management team and HR department are good to work with. They want me to grow in my career and help with tuition assistance. They have several employee communications and also pay on the spot and recular bonuses. I really enjoy working there.

    Cons

The only downside would be needing some type of benefit for childcare, such as a stipend or other to use for putting your kids in daycare.

I have been working at FreightWatch

    Pros

Good, clean working environment; Employees provided with up to date technology and most tools to complete the job; Employees provided with free drinks in breakroom; Decent bonuses. Nice team members to work with.

    Cons

Advancement within the company is not based upon your skills, but whether you are liked by 5 key people.Too many political games played in this company. Your supervisor's opinion and expectation of your performance does not matter to your advancement within the company. Each employee has more than one manager, as well as HR. HRis too involved in day to day activities, rather than HR remaining the objective and neutral department. HRdoes not complete thorough investigations into complaints and will side with management rather than investigate the problem. Overtime work is the expected norm, without employee complaint or comment. Too many meetings to talk about what needs to be done. New employee and new product traininng is non-existent. An employee must have the assignment in writing for it to be valid. Expectations of employees performance and job duties varies from management personnel. Vacation and holiday time off is the bare minimum. Email, cell phone and text messages are company property and are regularly perused by management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too much involvement on a day to day basis by HR, on things that need to be handled by manager or supervisor. HR is not an objective, un-biased, neutral department that employees can feel comfortable going to in the event of problems. Managers feel that they need to manage any and all employees, even if they do not directly manage an employee. The phrase "too many cooks spoil the soup" should be adheared to on a daily basis by management and by HR.
