    Pros

Right place, right people. The folks in my department genuinely like working together. They share ideas, help one another and want the hospital to succeed. It's a pleasure to work with great people

    Cons

As an outsourced employee, through staffing company, i did not get the full orientation that would have been beneficial to my start. Not necessary, but I would have caught onto the company structure (who's who) faster.
There isn't a lot of communication between departments and a lot of "it's not my job" mentality.

    Pros

The atmosphere was very professional with clear expectations, management that was available for guidance, and relatively mobile corporate ladder.

    Cons

I have worked in many office environments and I have never experienced one as cliquish as what I experienced here. The "popular" group huddling around to gossip and snark about the "nerdy" group, the "jocks" and the "cheerleaders" - it was literally more like high school than high school was. A lot of interoffice snark and bullying made the experience less than pleasant.

    Advice to Management

A less segregated corporate environment would be pleasant and beneficial for reducing the cliquishness. It would also be nice if formal training opportunities were made more clearly available for those who wish to advance further in their careers through a mentorship type program.

    Pros

Wonderful Patients and co-employees. Physicians are for the most part very approachable.

    Cons

Management forms clicks, has favorites and isn't afraid to show it.
Doesn't listen to employee concerns in stead piles more work on them.
Allows people in click to goof off and not do as much work and others have to make it up.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to learn to listen to it's employee's. Being friendly with employee's is ok but not socializing and forming clicks! if your not in the click your not getting hours, respect and possibly securing your job. Even though your dedication shows with your patients and productivity.

    Pros

The people I work with on nights are great.

    Cons

Something is wrong with executive staff. The way hiring and firing decisions are confusing to staff.

    Advice to Management

Provide rationale for the decision making process of the exec staff.

  6. Worst place to work ever! Hosital Only fixs things for State inspections.

    Pros

Great inpatient pharmacy resources. Great parking.

    Cons

Prejudice against new Staff from California/ and Sacramento. Run by nurses from out of state, through a temporary nurse travel agency. Patients complain about out of state nurses. Management more interested in reports and numbers than patients. Lack of empathy.

    Advice to Management

Hire permanent staff. From all over California. Work to retain permanent staff. Use errors as learning processes. Instead of firing permenant staff nurses for giving one medication late. Do not put temperary travel nurses from out of state in charge of training CVICU new hires. Don't allow temperary travel nurses to work in CVICU for more than 6 months to a year. Then offer them a staff positions. Most travel nurses don't want staff positions because they do not want to work for Rideout. They are not vested in its future.
Don't allow travel nurses to be charge nurse in the CVICU when their spouse is working that day on the same unit!

    Pros

Still offers many benefits for employees. Hospital pays employees part of co-insurance. Offers event tickets through payroll deduction.

    Cons

You are not valued very much as an employee. Employees are becoming very anonymous. Management seems disconnected. Hospital used to have philosophy closer to "What if Disney ran your Hospital". Now it seems more like the "Art of War"

    Advice to Management

You don't have to pamper the employees but companies are built on employees.

    Pros

Support and encouragement for career growth, ongoing employee and leadership training, open door policy with HR to help assess and solve problematic issues. Monthly employee forums give employees time to address issues directly with Leadership.

    Cons

During these tough economic times all raises have been put on hold. This makes for low employee morale and increases dissatisfaction. Retention becomes difficult when healthcare facilities within a short commute offer higher salaries and better benefits.

    Advice to Management

Reconsider employee raises and continue ongoing employee/leadership classes.

    Cons

Management is not always up front.

    Advice to Management

Please check out rumors from those people work with, do not take one persons complaint as valid.
