Pros
Flexibility in scheduling if you are a student or juggling a second job, quality merchandise that makes it easy to upsell, great benefits, even for part time.
Cons
Not a lot of positive feedback from management, only negative for the most part. Always seem to be a bit understaffed to save costs, which makes it difficult to offer great service. Team Leads are expected to carry a lot of weight for not much more compensation than entry level positions
Advice to Senior Management
More recognition of even small accomplishments, a few thank yous wouldn't hurt! I also think that corporate F & E would benefit by some public relations training for managers which in turn could be passed on to the rest of the crew.
Pros
they pay good and on time
Cons
they over work you. they favor certain employees
Pros
great location of head office in el segundo. the people are generally pretty cool, and there are occasional freebies that are nice surprises.
Cons
the business is very top heavy and very biased toward tesco uk employees - they get the good promotions and best packages.
Advice to Senior Management
realize that your consumer is american and listen to your employees more. the u.s. is incredibly diverse, and you are not meeting the needs of shoppers.
Pros
Fresh and Easy offers a great salary range for retail associates. They also offer a lot of room for movement within the company. The training is very thorough and leaves little to question.
Cons
I mentioned they offer room for movement within the company, not necessarily movement on the upward motion. The company is quick to move individuals into team lead positions, however, in doing so, the employee must become more flexible. In our store we experienced many different management changes which made for an inconsistent environment. Also, there were many times when the floor was lacking proper disbursment of employees due to the limited available hours.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be a lot more enjoyable to experience less change in management. Additionally, scheduling should be more closely focused on in genereal.
Pros
Benefits, even for part time employees.
Works around school schedule.
Cons
Only 50 cent raises per year, and the cap is reached after three years. Not unionized. A lot of turnover.
Pros
They have a great concept. The company is new and growing.
Customers love us and we love interacting with them. They would be "A Great Place To Work" if they followed their core values and practiced them.
Cons
FE needs to revisit their core values. ESPECIALLY:
-"Treat people the way we want to be treated"
-there is no consistency in the schedules and they are not posted until Sunday afternoons for the following day and week.
-empty promises about your development and career path.
-SM doesn't have the tools to do their job.
-Not being recognized as someone with many years experience, and someone who can help move the needle to get the store where it needs to be.
-They constantly move the finish line......
-Going the extra mile for the company on
special projects that bring in extra sales and still not a dime more in my pay. Also running a store for them in the SM's absence for 5+ weeks and no additional pay.
Many, many, many, more situations. :(
Be a Great Neighbor! What are we waiting for? Lets get out to the community and help build sales and loyalty form our neighbors!!
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees. Give them a chance to really talk to you. The viewpoint surveys don't allow you to get in any detail to explain our situations.
Your management team needs training on how to treat people. They need to understand, "If you take care of your people, they will take care of you!"
Don't use the excuse, "it cant be done, or they don't have time, just commit to it! and you can earn the lifetime loyalty of your employees as well as your customers.
Pros
The only pro of working for this company is that you make gas money.
Did I say the only benefit working here is making gas money?
Walmart would be my 2nd choice.
Cons
My observation, managers only promote their own. Also, make a bunch of empty promises just to make you feel good and work great. While THEY reap the benefits on their BONUS! Plus, they only focus on what is graded for their bonus.
Company is in shambles with everything!!!!
Especially not consistent with job promotion. Some are pushed thru and promoted next day, some two weeks, while others have to actually go thru options training, AND supposedly take the classes that are always CANCELLED...lol...Ive seen CA's become burn-out. Sadly, the leads are never fully trained.
Managers want you work a 40hr work week in 20 hours? I thought I was being punked when i first started to work there 9 months ago.
Some of you leads...enough said!
Some of you store managers...2nd that motion!
District managers and higher management...time for a reality check!
Who does the hiring of some of these people?
Mark downs... go back to your 50%. Customers are telling me everyday that they are no longer coming back cause of mark downs...and our store can feel it!!!
Advice to Senior Management
Enough of hiring your buddies, and rotating store managers like it is going to solve a problem. Your store managers and leads who are paid below compared to other companies, are not going to miraculously fix your mistakes. Time to do some re-evaluations and get rid of the bad apples, or just suffer. When you demote people, it only makes it worse and an embarrassment for the company.
Pros
Great hourly wage. Flexible Schedule. Manager is reasonable when you need to take days off. We have PTO, which is a really good tool when you want to get paid for a day off. They're not part of any Union.
Cons
Lots of physical work. Cleaning. Customers frustrated because they don't know how to use the self check out.
Advice to Senior Management
Rotate schedule, so that it can be fairly distributed and everybody gets to work different shifts.
Pros
Growing company, benefits, and the people in the sotres
Cons
Lack of opportunity. They like to bring people over from England to fill roles that could be given to actual Fresh and Easy employees not Tesco employees. They talk about values but they have gone away with the growth of the company.
Too much is expected from store managers and the pay for managers isn't worth the headaches
Advice to Senior Management
Pay your managers a better salary. They all work very hard to maintain standards, but the rewards aren't there.
Go back to your original values and provide a better work life balance to your employees.
Pros
The compensation is decent, and listed on the website. Benefits are offered to everyone is a great factor. The products sold there are pretty good, too.
Cons
It's a new company, and you can tell that a few of the kinks are still being worked out in some areas of store operation. This, in turn, can hinder upward mobility at times, and make the job difficult.
Advice to Senior Management
More hands on training and consistent expectations from upper/middle management, more feedback, and managers at store level with grocery backgrounds.
