    Pros

Great compensation; sophisticated matters; generally friendly associates; some great partners.

    Cons

On a down swing; low morale; all the problems one deals with at a BigLaw firm, such as terrible work-life balance, lots of fire drills, 24/7 availability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better communication with associates about the future of the Firm; don't nickle and dime on amenities.

Work for Fried Frank for over 20 years. Great Firm to work for, otherwise they would not have so m long term employees.

    Pros

If you do your job and do it well, you will be compensated well, period.

    Cons

Overtime pay for Admin: Stated in our Handbook - Overtime payment does not commence until the
non-exempt employee exceeds 40 hours of work time in a workweek. Also, ATO is not counted as time worked for the purposes of computing overtime during a regular work week. That is a BIG "CON" in this Firm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Many miss the Christmas, Anniversary, and Picnic Parties/Outings. Partners, Associates, and Administrative say "bring them back".

    Negative environment

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

    Window views and downtown location

    Cons

The prior review mentions there are many long term employees. This is only because the economy is not good and many law firms and companies have laid off. Some directors manage harshly and show favoritism.

No Different than Any Other Big Law Firm in NYC

    Pros

They are a bit more liberal minded. They have nice clean and recently renovated offices. Its the first stop on the train from Brooklyn (if you live there its very convenient).

    Cons

But in the end will treat you just as carelessly as the rest. They profess to be a different type of firm among the top tier law firms but they are not. My best advice is to go to the law firm with the best reputation on national surveys that you can - don't listen to the hype they try to sell you on about being different than the rest. You will only be shooting yourself in the foot in the long run to allow yourself to be persuaded by this "we are different" sales pitch.
