Pros
Big brands that have broad reach and relevance, providing an opportunity to touch consumers lives practically every day. Lean teams and empowerment throughout the organization make it possible to impact a business directly. Strong growth, even in economic down times.
Cons
Pace and level of responsibility make work/life balance a challenge
Advice to Senior Management
As PepsiCo makes a move to operate more on a Power of One basis, incentives need to be aligned across divisions so that plans can be developed jointly rather than in divisional silos.
Pros
The people I worked with were happy to be at work and always helpful.
Management made time for their employees and were honest with feedback on performance.
Necessary tools were easily accessible to be successful at job.
Cons
Not very much push for upward mobility within the Consumer Affairs department.
High employee turnover in the department, which leads to heavy work loads for experienced employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Great job with treating the employees well!
Work better with us to offer advice for development and growth with opportunities to increase our knowledge into more advanced positions.
Pros
You are able to see the entire process from the beginning to end and see where you fall into that scheme.
Cons
It is a very large company that moves slowly and focuses more on cost-cutting than innovation. Hours can get long and you have to deal with it.

push people to their potential so that they can make the company more competitive. Standard protocol can only do so much.

Recognized name, was once a respectable place to work, used to offer good benefits for employees (but only employees, not contractors), some departments are organized

No respect for contractors, overworked and underpaid. In a particular lab that only employs contractors there is no level of respect from management. Job duties are not clearly defined. Management in that lab is based on emotions and unprofessionalism. Employees in that lab have. Low morale and no sense of worth. They will break you down and push you to your limit, then reprimand you in front of other coworkers for mistakes THEY made, only to feel like they have power. If management feels threatened by an employee who skills for possible advancement, they will make sure it does not happen. The managers here are on a powertrip, and their superiors have no idea what is going on behind closed doors in this lab.
Advice to Senior Management
Check in on your contractors who are in a lab that is secluded and easily forgotten about. Allow contractors to have a voice in expressing wrongful treatment from their supervisor without fear of retaliation. Stop turning a blind eye and put someone else in a manager position is better suited for the job. Give contractors some of the benefits that the permanent employees receive, seeing as how they are usually the ones who work the hardest. Have upper management stop by the labs to evaluate the lab managers. When employees or contractors hear their superiors complain non stop about the company, it makes us want to have nothing to do with Frito Lay. The managers here are ruining the reputation of this company that was once a highly desired placed to work.

Too much attention is paid to making the numbers at all costs.
Lot of talk about work life balance, but do think you are going to get it.
Managers change way to often
Promotions are based on scorecards not on best candidates. H/R receives bonuses based on diversity, so what else would you expect.

Get back to the basics
Treat employees like you expect to be treated
Respect those that are actually doing the work, ask their opinions

The pay is good especially with the overtime. Benefits are decent even though they aren't as good as they used to be.
Cons
The management is some of the worst management I have ever encountered. They are all talk and no action. The equipment we use is garbage and it takes forever to fix a problem if they decide to fix it. Management will lie to you, promising you something but then they won't furfill those promises. The overtime sometimes is too much.

If you want your hourly workers to show some urgency, then management needs to show some urgency in dealing with issues workers bring up. It's called "Leadership by example."

Good on resume. You do real life work and very challenging.

They seem to encourage growth but in actuality it is not true. They have preselected people they want them to succeed.

Right now hiring is very limited due to the economy.
Sometimes the workload prevents having a "great work-life balance."
More work than the 19 hour shift can actually accommodate (Although we don't ming putting in the extra hours pro bono!

Keep it up! You are all mostly doing what looks like the right things to us insiders.
But... don't be afraid to take bigger risks with your infrastructure and fleet! It will provide the real separation in the future.

Requirements for advancement are made clear, but no one sticks to them. Lots of promotion decisions are made behind closed doors.
Managers are afraid to give honest feedback.
There's a lot of "talk" about supporting work/life balance, but that's all it is - "talk"
Expect to work very long hours and almost every weekend just to stay above water

Long hours, If you don't have a degree you WILL NOT get promoted! Very narrow minded when looking at the skills of the front line workers, not a lot of respect given! Not a very inviting environment!
