I have been working at FrontRange Solutions full-time for more than a year

ProsNew CEO and other c-level executives in 2012 have brought innovative ideas and superior management skills.

As far as HR goes, FrontRange offers a very competitive benefits package with great perks. All employees are friendly and dedicated to their job and the success of the organization.

ConsNot too many cons to choose from. it is really a great place to work with very friendly and approachable executive staff. Availability may be lacking as they are in meetings all the time but is expected at that level.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Lots of promise, but not realized

I worked at FrontRange Solutions full-time for more than 5 years

ProsA good place to learn skills, some decent managers, but not a lot of solid organization. Technology was solid, but is becoming obsolete. If the company gets its technical act together, it can remain a serious player in the service delivery management space. Its CRM product is solid.

ConsLittle or no leadership. Chaotic and stressful atmosphere that lacks direction. No positive feedback. Too much screaming . . .

Really good skill-building, interesting work, and quality of life

ProsProducts are very complex and interesting, lots of chances to work on threading, memory issues, performance tuning, scalability, and newest technologies. Apps are metadata driven, also rare to get to work on these. Pay is good, managers are (most of them) good to work for, and most teams seem to have very good work-life balance. Company is doing well and has a chance to really explode.

ConsPleasanton can feel a long way from the Bay Area. There are a few senior people here who aren't easy to get along with, but most of those kinds of people have been weeded out over the last few years. 3 weeks of unpaid shutdown give you lots of family time, but they come at the expense of getting paid (or you just use your PTO for the shutdowns, which most people here do.) It can still feel a little more "corporate" here than in Silicon Valley (but you're not working 70 hour weeks either).

Advice to Senior ManagementOpen up the developer culture: use bullpens, Scrum, allow developers to do independent research. Make this just like a Silicon Valley feel, but without the crazy long hours, and you'll have a winning formula for attract/retain.

Good work but bad management

ProsThe knowledge and work experience you gain is good. The people you work with are good. The tools and products used make use of latest technologies so you gain good knowledge.

Consthe management does not know where to focus and priorities keep in changing on weekly basis. This leaves the end result at too thin resources in each area and projects deadlines slipping most of the time.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease create a focused set of road map and have all team members share that. If there is major change in direction then that must be discussed. Avoid frequent changes in personal and priorities.

No recognition and no career growth. Most of the managers are individual contributors.

Pros1. Work here if you are close to the location
2. Want experience in latest SaaS technology

Cons1. No career growth, most of them are working in the same position for many years.
2. No recognition of hard work
3. No proper communication between employees and senior management. Most of the time the engineers are in the dark regarding any development and release plans.
4. There is no process in place. Most of the time the products are released even while the development is working on fixing the defects. The team would be working on the product and the next morning they know it has been released as gold. The development managers are always in pressure and they pass on that to the team.
5. The performance appraisals are a big joke here.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove communication between management and team members and recognize the hard working and real contributors. Help the employees grow in their jobs which will help grow the company in the long run.

A Competitive Company with a competitive attitude

Pros- good pay
- lower management seems to understand software
- good development environment (build system works, db scripts work most of the time, etc)
- if your not working the software department you can expect reasonable work hours
- get yummy donuts once in a while
- all the free coffee and tea you can drink
- funny office space type culture

Cons- extremely high pressure for the software department
- engineers routinely put in 70+ hours a week, working on weekends
- death march mentality
- unrealistic deadlines
- management plays favorites
- engineers look unhappy at daily meetings

Advice to Senior Management- the pressure cooker environment will cause some employees to leave, thus adding more costs for rehiring more workers
- high pressure situations are not sustainable
