    I worked at Fry's Electronics

    Pros

The Pros to working here are the great customers that come in to shop as well as the other customer service associates that are very friendly and nice.

    Cons

Very Micromanaged. You have to ask permission to use the restroom. Customer Service Associates as suppose to dress for success but are paid only minimum wage and are expected to clean the bathrooms, trash out front, retrieve the shopping carts all while wearing business attire. Cannot trade your shifts at all even hour for hour.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise the pay or the % of commission to obtain less turn over and get more productivity. Hire someone to take care of the housekeeping needs instead of expecting your front line employees to be the janitors as well. Allow Customer Service Associates to be able to trade their shifts rather than go short and advise them to call in sick.

I worked at Fry's Electronics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Could easily move laterally to try out different positions

    Cons

Commission only pay was demoralizing. Couldn't stand to walk into the place. Evidently Randy felt the same way because he only visited the Texas store 1 time in the 7 1/2 years I worked there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your customers, care about your employees! To the Fry brothers and the lady who owns this establishment, invest in your company. Equip your employees with suitable systems that aren't ancient, its embarrassing. You can start by fixing your website.
Additionally, nobody likes commissioned bases sales with no base pay. Make your employees happy and they will make your customers happy. The formula is pretty simple.

    Pros

There are a lot of people who are very nice and tend to band together to survive a job like this.

    Cons

There is absolutely no training in this job. You sink or swim. If you make good sales, you can do no wring but if your sales slip you won't even be remembered.
