    Benefits, opportunities for learning, good people to work with.

    Management can be inconsistent. Also, some employees who really should be fired for being incompetent or hostile get to stay.

    Smart and personable colleagues from many many countries. Decent salaries and time-off policies. Work/life balance is OK except for crunch times.

    Cons

    Working at a different country from headquarters in Japan means you aren't always in the loop.

    It was a Japanese company more localized than any of other Japanese companies. It provided local employees with high autonomy and sense of ownership. The team was young but sophisticated and energetic enough to develop business in China.

    The relatively slower research and development pace and unnecessarily high quality control limited its business development in China.
