I worked at Fulbright & Jaworski full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Well established firm even though there have been changes. Has a great history and is now called Norton Rose Fulbright. Great in-house training to keep employees current with updates and new programs. I was impressed with the great organized fashion in which all employees were successfully served with vacation scheduling, benefits information, various opportunities to grow, and good supervisory leadership. No longer there but see that it is still a well-established firm.

    Cons

The changes have been significant and job security is somewhat diminished. There have been "several" retirement packages offered in past few years. Firm has been going through transition since merging with Norton Rose. No longer employed there so can't say more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more opportunity for staff to not only to express when there is a problem BUT ALSO to provide and work out a solution that is good for all involved.

    Decent enough firm, much bureaucracy

I worked at Fulbright & Jaworski full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I liked the people I worked with generally, it's a decent firm (this was pre-merger with Norton Rose so I can't speak to how it's been since then) and one-on-one folks were mostly decent.

    Cons

Due to the size of the firm, bureaucracy was stiff and unforgiving, not much way they'd work with anyone that needed a little 'give and take'.

I worked at Fulbright & Jaworski full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Work is invairably interesting; there is a lot of flexibility to move between groups; at the first year level, there is a great training program in place to both educate new attorneys and integrate them into the firm. Most importantly, the people are great to work with and, for the most part, have reasonable expectations.

    Cons

As is the case with many large firms, it can be difficult to get courtroom experience as a young attorney. In addition, there is some lack of transparency in terms of the requirements and process for advancement in the firm.

I worked at Fulbright & Jaworski

    Pros

The people here are great. My bosses were very flexible. I was promoted multiple times while I was at FJ.

    Cons

There was very little negative for me while I was at FJ. The only thing that could have been negative was the salary was a little low.

I have been working at Fulbright & Jaworski full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Availability to the latest technologies; lots of training opportunities.

    Cons

Management doesn't care about support staff. Partners are more worried about their units and distributions, than whether or not staff gets a raise. Their attitude is, You should be glad you at least have a job. It didn't always feel like this. Management doesn't take care of problem employees -- always arriving late, always leaving early, always out sick, sub-par work product, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the dead weight. Hire people who are good at what they do. Cheaper isn't always better. Listen to your employees and their concern over their futures. Promote staff who go above and beyond the call of duty to help the Firm.

I worked at Fulbright & Jaworski full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Flexibility in work hours
    *Christmas Bonuses
    *Stability

    Cons

Management is out of touch with their staff
    No growth
Bonuses were removed since they were "discretionary" although that's not what most long term employees were told when they were originally hired.
Stability lost when management began restructuring the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great employees began to leave when raises were non existent, no training opportunities where offered and hard work did not make a difference to salary adjustments.
