I worked at Furman University part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

As a student working on campus is ideal. Most departments recognize your class and social needs and allow you to plan your hours to fit with your life. Good pay with good hours without being overworked. Oftentimes the full-time employees at furman will help students land jobs for summers and after school.

    Cons

Student workers are often paid pretty low wages. Good for weekly spending money but not much else. For students who do not have the financial support of parents, working on campus will not necessarily give you the biggest pay out.

I have been working at Furman University full-time for less than a year

    Pros

LOCATION! Fine university rated as a best places to work 5 years in a row. Professional development opportunities. Competitive salaries and rich insured benefits and rich time off benefits.

    Cons

Onboarding is poor. Sink or swim to adjust. The need to hold down tuition and boost enrollment is beginning to strain the budget and take a toll on employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote a better work/life balance and put some teeth in your wellness program. Too many employees are working too many hours.

Former Employee - Facilities in Greenville, SC

I worked at Furman University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Safe, clean, and non-stressful environment. Great benefits if they apply. Has a brand established that seems to never deteriorate until recently. Social media may finally show it's true colors.

    Cons

Have some great people doing all the work and others just coasting along riding the system. Very hard to make ends meet financially if you can't take advantage of the tuition assistance or insurance. No where to advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Middle management heavy. No innovative thinking going on. Self gratifying in their mindsets. Eventually they will have to admit this.
