    Pros

    Gym and Cafeteria in building.

    Cons

Peer pressure to work over lunch at your desk. Daily measurement against Margin and Sales with unrealistic targets and small rewards. Micro management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn modern motivation techniques. Set real targets and pay everyone the same for hitting them. Don't keep it secret.

I have been working at Future Electronics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I can't think of one when I have worked for other Disty's

    Cons

Where do I start? Micro Manage, Different business Strategy Weekly, Cutting Pay, Meetings, Con Calls, BSA who have never been in front of a customer at their facility, Management talks out of both sides of their mouth, No motivation to be team player, Marketer's that are kid's an don't understand how to quote.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You better change something to motivate your people or you will drive this company into the ground. No one hear is looking for free handout, just a little respect an more responsibility to service their account's. Let the people who made you million's of dollars over the years have a little control. This is not a hard business we are in, Buy parts an sell them an offer tools to help customers with their problems. Not every Market is the same, so you can't put a template over NA an think the strategy will work in every branch. Management (RVP) follow up is weak an have no control to make any decisions in front of a custom or (GM) why bring them in to meet a president when nothing will get done? Stop trying to re-event the wheel an thinking we are better then the A's in every aspect.

Have the BSA's do something like send out a customer survey in each branch an question the in-side, out-side, engineer, quote response, pricing, terms, corp management team. Rate from 1-10 an leave a response if thy want. You will find the problems we have an also see what account's reply then you will know where the branch is strong. Make an incentive to the branch to get at least 80% of the survey back.

    Pros

Food in the caf is decent. The building has nice big Windows but they keep the blind closed all day which makes people feel pretty depressed.

    Cons

Poor leadership with micro management. Only know how to motivate through intimidation. The environment is extremely poor and the staff moral is an all time low. As soon as the market turns, people will start leaving quickly for better. Pay is pretty low for the amount of hours and stress that is put into the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start caring a little bit about your employees and maybe they will work harder for you when it counts.

I worked at Future Electronics full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

RRSP matching, Flex hours, Gym, subsidized cafeteria (amazing food), Dry Cleaning services, the employees and lower to middle management are some of the kindest most thoughtful people you will ever meet. HR actually cares about the well being of employees and listens objectively, it is a great place to learn what it means to work in a corporate environment. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere!!

    Cons

Staff is overworked and extremely underpaid, it is shocking how little a manager can make. If you do well at your job, you are prevented from moving forward, getting a promotion can mean little to no raise, bonuses and raises are inconsistent, there are periodical layoffs in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees better! Establish defined bonus structures, allow your staff who work hard the opportunity to grow or you will lose them as you typically do. You do not realize the cost of rehiring and retraining a new employee rather than keeping an existing one.

    Pros

Canadian company to work with a good trade mindset. For Europe the UK headquarters have a good office. Very nice people working all around the world.

    Cons

Definitely company have no interest in developing people to improve their skills and train new skills. Just a milk cow mindset to the employees to get what they maximum can get from them without investing in them and increase their capabilities. This is extreme in small country offices but still visible in HQ with high throughput of employees that leave in few years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in people for long term employments.

    Pros

Strong technical team across the board makes it an excellent place to learn and excel. Structured and efficient design flow makes it easy to learn and perform.

    Cons

Some GMs and GSMs are not the strongest and customer penetration sometimes is more difficult than it should be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You got the best technical team but you don't push performance hard enough. We can be doing that much better. Don't be affraid to shake things up.

    Pros

People here are very friendly, and have a big believe in the vision of the organization. The level of experience and professionalism for majority of employees is high and you are always learning on the job and professional supplier training modules. A ton of training.....maybe be too much.

    Cons

Even though they preach about having work-life balance, it sometimes difficult to with the amount of work needed.

    Pros

Great people. Future has their fingers in almost every electronic based customer. If there is a circuit board in the product, you can assume Future is their supplier. Working for this company opens up opportunities beyond those available with other employers. Systematic work environment, good management, and great team culture.

    Cons

Hard to manage all the supplier relationships when our focus is selling.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When rewarding people, please make sure to rank-and-file people appropriately although there has been a huge improvement in the last year or so.
