Pros
flexible hours, staff discount, great people
Cons
pay cut, lack of team work events, lack of fun
Advice to Senior Management
should listen to the employee voice on the floor. mgmt team is not stepping up nor they care about employee moral
Pros
-Great discount offered by the company
-Flexible hours
-Laid back environment, unless you work in sales
-Get to work with the latest technology
-Product reps give you free stuff all the time
-My coworkers were real fun to hang out and talk with
Cons
-Lots of repetitive work
-Have to deal with some angry customers
-Pay isn't that great, unless you become a sleazy salesman that is willing to mislead to get the commission
-Poor management, at least in my area, where communication didn't flow freely through the store
-Have to work some ridiculous hours (especially around holidays like Christmas where you work like a dog)
Advice to Senior Management
-Improve communication within the stores and offer more advice to associates on areas of improvement and general feedback of personal performance to understand how they are doing overall.
-Offer better incentives to employees, especially in entertainment where commission is only made of service plans and nothing else.
Pros
Very good commission opportunities. If you're capable of selling and willing to pursue every opportunity, you can make very good money working here. For those willing to pursue and that are capable of doing it, the sky's the limit.
Cons
Can be very stressful. This due partly to the pay structure, which can be very unforgiving: If you're on subsidy, which most departments are, you must make more than your hourly wage on commission. If you don't, you simply earn hourly wage and nothing else. In contrast many retail positions include commission IN ADDITION TO hourly wage, not either or.
Advice to Senior Management
Selling requires an optimistic, upbeat attitude. High-energy. Even if your day is not great, and the store may not be doing as well as it should, if your negative about it when talking to employees, they won't be able to sell as well as they should for the rest of the day. Store will do even worse. Plus, although it might seem necessary, critiquing only harms performance. We're already on commission, there's no greater motivation than that to work as hard as we can. And if, halfway through the day, having worked hard the whole time, manager tells me that I need to go and work hard cause we're not meeting budget, it will only demoralize me, and I won't be able to sell a thing. Rare problem, but still very damaging if it happens.
Pros
good pay for a entry level job
lots of room for advancement
Fun atmosphere to work in
Cons
It's a commission environment so all of your sales numbers will be brought up constantly and if your performance is not up to par they will not hesitate to get someone who's is. However if you work hard and do your homework you should be fine
Advice to Senior Management
Focus more on long-term goals or numbers instead of micro managing every sale.
Pros
Pay reflects ability to sell - you make what you earn
Good products to sell - inventory is usually well stocked
Cons
Listening to the same music all day over the speakers is awful
Performance measurements are entirely quantitative - nothing qualitative.
Advice to Senior Management
More on-the-job training by skilled trainers would be nice. 20 page print out on the 'need to know' of major appliances does NOT an expert make.
Pros
Great employee discount.
Choice of medical plans.
Cons
Commission only. Commission on gross margin is often nothing.
Sales only matter if you sell extended warranty.
Depending on sales managers, certain employees receive favoritism.
They get preferred hours, and are sent customers.
Everyone is out for themselves.
Advice to Senior Management
They seem to be very successful, so they wouldn't listen anyways.
Problems are no-where near the top.
Pros
The commission is great. There is alot of motivation to work hard. Great as a student job during university or college.
Cons
Very individual sale orientated. Since salary is 100% commission there is a survival of the fittest mentality. Continuously fighting for customers
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage team mentality and provide better team management. Stop focusing on numbers and and ratios and start thinking of employees
Pros
The ability to make the job your own and create your own destiny. Amazing people you get to work with, and some of the best direct management (DSM's and GM's) in any business. Very good training process, and support to become the best in the CE industry.
Cons
The unclear and unknowing practice to have HR spy on your online social media activity (mainly in reference to activity not associated with the company). As well as how certain roles within the company are more highly regarded than others (sales associates get treated like gold, while operation employees are treated very poorly).
Advice to Senior Management
Offer similar rewards to your operational employees as you do for your sales force. And make your policies regarding social media more clear and concise upon holding quarterly meetings as a suggestion from here moving forward.
Pros
Upbeate and work towards excellence to complete tasks as required and are rewarded not by this company but third party
Cons
lack of pay, rewards based, training, communication, hours for budget, training, and back end support, equipement is not good either
Advice to Senior Management
provide equipment that works, provided training prior to being thrown to the wolves and ensure better communication between all parties
Pros
Fun job with something going on all the time
Cons
Less prospect of growth specially for technologists
Advice to Senior Management
There is a need to broaden the services offered by them in IT field. There are a lot of businesses and home they can target to improve on these sales.
