    Always reinventing itself

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe place manages to continually punch above its weight-class. And it's managed to avoid getting too mired in it's own 'corporateness'. Sure you'll find the usual array of templates, job tiers and bureaucratic nonsense but there's also a tremendous amount of flexibility to cut your own path. The trick is to genuinely take an entrepreneurial stance and remain respectful as you campaign internally.

ConsThe 'international' thing that attracts so many to a big agency works better with the European offices than it seems to for North American workers. Some cultural rifts between the 2 capitals of London and New York can be noticed. But even that is softening, with more opportunities to work outside of one's own P&L.

Advice to Senior ManagementAvoid growing too quickly if it means that leadership alignment suffers. It's been a treat watching leadership work as an inspired team over the past 3 years and the client results show for it. Also, promote from within when possible. There's a perception that the good jobs always go to outsiders.

    Senior Director (Current Employee)

Prosfair compensation with lots of room to grow.

Consa lot of people there tend to already know one another.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe wary of cliquey enviroment, try to hire people outside of your inner circle

    average to bad

    Creative (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsGreat people (apart from upper management)
    Location
Few rules or process, so good for entrepreneurial types

ConsUpper management ranged from incompetent to damaging
Lots of turnover with direction/management of company
    Long hours/Low pay
    Bad hiring practices
IPG will always value finance over creativity

Advice to Senior ManagementI'd give it if I though it would make a difference - though from what I hear the management is much better now then when I was there. Patrick Smith is a great person/manager, so I hope once he took over things turned around - nothing but respect.

FutureBrand Singapore - a company without future

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Pros(formerly) high profile clients and exposure,
    (formerly) good industry reputation,
    (formerly) challenging and exciting vision.

Joining the company in 2013 with an optimistic outlook, it is remarkable how fast things have deteriorated thanks to incredibly 'gifted' senior management.

ConsIdeology over substance, nepotism over fair appraisal, profits over ethics, titles over ability, bureaucracy and ego over people. If you are talented, enthusiastic and values-driven, please steer clear of this company.

Example: Claiming with considerable pride to create a 'more positive future', FutureBrand Singapore so far has taken ZERO initiative to support CSR, sustainability, volunteering or nonprofit work in Singapore. To paraphrase the unforgettable words of our global head of strategy, drilling oil is a service to society that can also create a more positive future. That degree of narrow-mindedness and ridicule is pretty much what you sign up for.

It’s all a really big joke, just not a funny one if you’re employed there.

Advice to Senior ManagementPerhaps rename the company from 'FutureBrand' to simply 'Brand'...?

FutureBrand Singapore 2014 - Letting its people down

    Anonymous (Current Employee)

ProsWithout a reason of a doubt, some of the brightest, smartest and nicest people you will meet in the industry. Brimming with enthusiasm (at least when they come in) and adept at tackling a variety of client issues.
    Great collegial, teamwork-centric environment.
But let down again and again and again my senior management at regional and global level.

    ConsNo bonuses.
    Average at best salary rates.
    Lack of transparency.
    Lots of undelivered promises.
    Flailing business pipeline.
    Myopic visions.
    Extremely high turnover rate.

Advice to Senior ManagementRegional should stand up to global to address the way it wants to build its business. Stop cutting the jobs, start increasing morale and winning new business.

FutureBrand Singapore as a brand, doesn't live up to its promises.

    Consultant (Current Employee)
    Singapore (Singapore)

ProsColleagues are diverse and extremely intelligent; they are great people at work and outside of work.

ConsThe Singapore office hasn't treated its staff very well, or fairly. They preach that when customers know that a company treats its staff well, customers trust them more. FutureBrand Singapore has not treated its staff well. There's been no transparency, actual hiding of fact that some in the leadership were given bonuses and only after that amount was deducted from the pot, did they say that everyone was getting a profit share.

Some departments have leads or heads that actually care about individual employee development but this is not consistent throughout the company. Career planning and progression is extremely lacking. Promises made in this area were blatantly reneged on repeatedly

The turnover is extremely high - approximately 47% per year, with 6 departures since the beginning of April.

The business pipeline is extremely worrying and morale low.

FutureBrand Singapore - lost its way

    Branding Professional (Current Employee)
    Singapore (Singapore)

Pros1. People: The people here are very nice, generally smart, and work hard.
    2. Diversity: People are from all over the world, and have diverse backgrounds.
    3. Openness: People are generally open to new ideas, provided they align with London's thinking.

ConsNote: The former CEO instructed the staff to write glowing Glassdoor reviews, in order to help us win at an annual awards in 2012 and 2013. Take that into consideration when reading reviews.

Note: There is currently new leadership in Singapore, which will hopefully improve things.

    1. Follow through: The former CEO made a lot of promises...
    2. Compensation: Consistently below average.
    3. Learning: There is no mentorship, development or training programme. There is also no on-boarding or initiation for new hires. Yes, the company did invest in two, two-day seminars in 2013, but that's it.
    4. Career development: Management tried to put in place a career development program, but it is being redone by corporate.
    5. Work: FutureBrand is not winning exciting, interesting projects with top clients.
    6. Turnover: Average tenure here is about one year.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe top priority of the management team should be employee morale.

    So, focus on the people.

    FutureBrand Singapore - Sinking Ship

    Manager (Current Employee)
    Singapore (Singapore)

ProsBright, hardworking, fun people in the creative and strategy team tackling challenging pieces of work. Interesting clients from the region. Entrepreneurial environment. Loose connection to the global London and New York offices which are doing quality work.

ConsHistory of extremely high turnover (people come and ago in weeks and months) due to myopic decision making at the very top, at the local and global level. Duplicitous senior management with questionable ethics. Quite amazing and also an open industry secret, how a single leader managed to keep this facade up and simultaneously bring the place down over the course of 2010 - 2013. High burn-out rates due to the long hours and workload. No bonuses.

Advice to Senior ManagementFix the culture. You're never going to build up a sustainable APAC and ME presence if you keep booting out country MDs every 2Q of slipped targets.

dynamic, creative, demanding and interesting workplace

    Senior Consultant (Current Employee)
    London, England (UK)

Prosinteresting client challenges, company culture, smart people and opportunities to advance, nice offices and free breakfast fridays and drinks to end the week

Conslong hours, somewhat disorganised around reviews, very new business focus to detriment of existing clients, only semi digital oriented, some strong personalities to deal with

Advice to Senior Managementdon't just ask for opinions unless you implement them
