    Pros

Management endorses a laissez-faire environment which gives you space to reinvent roles and contribute in different ways that helps bring growth to the company. Work-Life balance is great. Management is understanding with personal life challenges.

    Cons

With the laissez-faire approach, it also doesn't give you an understanding of what Management wants. The message is always unclear to the point that you feel they want you to read their minds. Roles aren't clearly defined. There is also a "high-school click" vibe with the employees that have been there for a while and unless you are part of the "click" you are left out of many conversations.

    Advice to Management

Management needs a clearer vision of what they want from their employees. Communication is key to any improvement.

    Pros

The coffee bar on the 3rd floor is pretty awesome, but since it belongs to another company does that really count?

    Cons

The politics and know it all attitudes are bad enough, but the conniving and backstabbing and scratching in the dirt for nothing makes this place miserable. Designers who are out of control, management that is inattentive at best, and strategists who truly believe that they are smarter than anyone who has ever lived make this place unbearable. HR doesn't lift a finger when abuse is reported, leadership can't make decisions, and management is just abusive in its pursuit of the status quo.

    Advice to Management

Please just quit so IPG can find someone else to run this place.

    Pros

The place manages to continually punch above its weight-class. And it's managed to avoid getting too mired in it's own 'corporateness'. Sure you'll find the usual array of templates, job tiers and bureaucratic nonsense but there's also a tremendous amount of flexibility to cut your own path. The trick is to genuinely take an entrepreneurial stance and remain respectful as you campaign internally.

    Cons

The 'international' thing that attracts so many to a big agency works better with the European offices than it seems to for North American workers. Some cultural rifts between the 2 capitals of London and New York can be noticed. But even that is softening, with more opportunities to work outside of one's own P&L.

    Advice to Management

Avoid growing too quickly if it means that leadership alignment suffers. It's been a treat watching leadership work as an inspired team over the past 3 years and the client results show for it. Also, promote from within when possible. There's a perception that the good jobs always go to outsiders.

    Pros

fair compensation with lots of room to grow.

    Cons

a lot of people there tend to already know one another.

    Advice to Management

Be wary of cliquey enviroment, try to hire people outside of your inner circle

    Pros

Great people (apart from upper management)
    Location
Few rules or process, so good for entrepreneurial types

    Cons

Upper management ranged from incompetent to damaging
Lots of turnover with direction/management of company
    Long hours/Low pay
    Bad hiring practices
IPG will always value finance over creativity

    Advice to Management

I'd give it if I though it would make a difference - though from what I hear the management is much better now then when I was there. Patrick Smith is a great person/manager, so I hope once he took over things turned around - nothing but respect.

    Pros

Positive work environment, no politics, Great leadership, Great creative, great collaborative work environment. HK office is really the Asia HQ. Office has world class talent that easily beats its competitors in terms of quality and value of work. can deliver. Staff constantly pushed to do more - lots of responsibility. Under new leadership, office has reestablished itself and is rapidly growing. Strong talent at all levels with lots of potential for good performers.

    Cons

    Pay slightly under market rate.

    Advice to Management

Don't lose team in place - it would be impossible to replace and is unique in region.

    Pros

    - Unique and innovative branding tools and strategy process
    - Above industry average OT meal/cab reimbursement
    - Good Work and life balance
    - Little office politics/drama

    Cons

    - No training
    - No promotion opportunity
    - Little interoffice communication or teamwork
    - Global cares little of Asia offices (the unwanted step child)

    Advice to Management

Global leadership needs to decide if they want to stay in Asia or not. At FutureBrand we believe in 'Creating and more positive future', yet global feels it is OK to hire and fire teams of people on a whim.

    Pros

Nothing good at the moment. It's just a empty shell dotted as one of their operations world map.

    Cons

FutureBrand has a practice of changing heads, senior management and sometimes entire teams in Singapore every 2-3 years or so. Over the last 10 years, there were at least 3 generations of entirely different sets of senior managements and employees. Some ex senior management employees had even set up their own agencies, made up of mostly ex FutureBrand staff.

The last generation of employees was axed in its entirety, after last ditch attempts to sustain the business failed. Everyone in the industry reacted with shock and disbelief. The prior 3 years had seen tremendous growth in terms of business wins, staff strength and morale, only to crash flat out by January 2015.

What went wrong? Hasn't the head office learnt from past experiences? Perhaps the ship was too big to manoeuvre in the shallow waters of the Asian region? Perhaps this has always been the strategy and commitment to this part of the world. To bow out when things got too hot to handle and start from scratch again when the coast is clear.

    Advice to Management

After so many attempts, FutureBrand hasn't grasped how to sustain growth in Asia. Attempts at inroads into China failed. No presence in South Asia, and failed to sustain in Southeast Asia. Maybe it's a better idea to keep out altogether.

    Pros

Talented individuals ruined by bad management.

    Cons

FutureBrand HQ has decided that the Southeast Asian market is not worth persueing anymore and decided to wind down and abandon ship in a flash. Existing client relationships and new contracts signed were ended abruptly, leaving clients hanging in the cold. Go ask around those clients FutureBrand were servicing in end 2014 - Jan 2015. They would tell you how irresponsible FutureBrand as a company is.

    Advice to Management

You can close shop and ask employees to leave in an instant, but to abandon clients in a flash after months and years shows how irresponsible as an organisation you are, not just to employees, but to the organisations that you have been serving. All the future positive propositions are all but empty talk.

    Pros

At this stage, none really! The people used to be FB SG's biggest plus but, after a disastrous 2014, half of the good people are gone and the other half is interviewing around to get out.

    Cons

FutureBrand Singapore has, unfortunately, been a revolving door of bad, incompetent leaders. The current Leadership is acting like they are on a kamikaze mission to bring down the business - apparently they also are succeeding in this mission.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the current Leaders and put somebody in place who actually knows how to run an agency. The Global Executives came to SG back in March promising that we will enjoy working here: it's time to keep your promise!
