    Great atmosphere to work in.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsFriendly helpful place to work. If you need help easy to obtain it from management. New climate controlled facility.

ConsLower wages, however they do profit sharing so it makes up for it.

It's a good place to work in a very bad economy.

    General Factory (Current Employee)
    Blue Island, IL

ProsSteady employment with overtime available if wanted. Not a bad place to work. If you do your job and are to work on time management leaves you alone. Quarterly bonuses are something to look forward to.

Cons1. Large Hispanic workforce. Very nice people to work with but they will speak Spanish every chance they get. It's very hard to learn a job from someone that has a poor command of the english language. Just from a safety standpoint management should make english the only language to be spoken in the factory.
    2. G&Ws starting pay is VERY low. The company is clearly taking advantage of the bad economy and the large unemployed workforce.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease address number 1 and number 2 above. If the economy improves after the next presidential election (as I believe it will) you will lose a lot of good employees looking for better wages and benefits. Quarterly bonuses are nice but they don't make up for the low wages.

    Mechanical engineers are data pushers

    Mechanical Engineer (Former Employee)
    Alsip, IL

ProsSupport from other engineers, when they find time (everyone is super busy)
Database makes new designs a little simpler
Reviews are done on every project to ensure nothing is missed
drawing database organized and somewhat easy to access parts you need

ConsManagement is super cheap. They will paint rusty office furniture to keep from buying new stuff. They also took away award pizza lunches even though engineering staff gives dozens of free overtime every week. They also charge employees for coffee, which is unheard of from any company. Seriously, who doesn't supply that for their employees??
your always behind on projects because engineer staff can't possibly keep up with workload
Your expected to come in on saturdays at least once a month (no choice)
Some of the senior staff on the shop floor know what they're doing, but there is a lot of unskilled labor that requires help from engineering staff on a regular basis when they should be spending time getting projects out

Advice to Senior ManagementSomeone needs to go into the bottom depths of day to day operations and realize the way they are going things doesn't work, and that most of the engineering staff is really unhappy (though it seems like everyone puts up with it rather than finding work elsewhere)

If you are considered a Favorite, you will do well.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe company is growing by leaps and bounds and has since moved to a new location. There are many any opportunities to grow and develop.

ConsI was a female working in a mainly male industry. Every time I entered the plant, I felt 500 pairs of eyes following my every move. Another employee verbally intimidated me in the parking lot at work while I was walking to my car. I felt very uncomfortable there and would mot choose to go back.
