    Pros

    - As much as I did not like the general culture, I have to admit that I learned a lot while I was there. - Good transit location. - Nice self training opportunities at discounted levels - Nice bathrooms (despite nasty users)

    Cons

    - Weak leadership in general - Very, very, very "cliquish" and political (you'll find this at most big agencies) - Little to no diversity at the director and executive levels (having one or two minorities doesn't count). This is an issue in the advertising industry as a whole, that also partly has to do with economics. - Low morale among many groups

    Advice to Management

    - G2, at least while I was there, had some of skilled employees at the managerial and director levels. However skill does not necessarily equate to leadership ability. Invest in leadership training for your managers on up, and make it mandatory to attend. - Diversify your ranks on the leadership levels, and be open minded to diverse opinions

  3. Totally a top down company. Management is disconnected to general workforce.

    Pros

    Casual, relaxed atmosphere. Great location.

    Cons

Many employees feel completely undervalued and go unrewarded. Many managers are out for personal gain at the expense of team members, so sucking up and playing politics wins out over hard work and talent. Company lacks communication and a cohesive work environment.

    Advice to Management

Communicate. Respect your team. Eliminate favoritism based on politics or personality preferences. Recognize good work and promote/reward accordingly. Look for and value feedback from team members regarding work related issues.

    Pros

G2 has some very bright and talented people across a range of disciplines...

    Cons

...but the upper management that oversees creative, strategy, and new business will be their ultimate downfall.

    Advice to Management

They need to find upper management that can actually work together and not act like a bunch of entitled spoiled brats.

    Pros

Nice offices. Good location. There are pockets of truly talented and dedicated people there. Good variety of interesting brands and clients.

    Cons

They have lost a lot of great people and a lot of clients. Very large agency that is segregated amongst disciplines with a lot of finger pointing and little unity. Upper management seem to live in an insular dreamland and are visible to only a very few. Pay is crap. Hours are long.

    Advice to Management

Put plainly, you aren't very good. Try something else.

    Pros

G2 analytics has come a long way while i've been there, and the ability to custom engineer products and build new services has definitely been a great opportunity. We've been able to build some very advanced capabilities and within the analytics group we have strong support. It's been a very positive experience and there have been many times where i've been extremely proud of what has been accomplished.

    Cons

Upper management can't seem to get out of there own way. Departments are siloed, and you feel like you are constantly battling internally over every little detail. Account and project management teams seem very redundant and both groups seem to think that they should have the final say in any project at any time. Client access is generally restricted, which leads to a very difficult development cycle, and more than once, ended up with subpar deliverables because account teams were not equipped to communicate technical information.

    Advice to Management

Stop in-fighting and integrate the departments. Create synergy not animosity, and don't be afraid to try new things. Invest a little capital into the company and create some new capabilities, G2 is well positioned in the industry to take over emerging areas in digitial, but that won't last.

    Pros

Friendly work environment, cool new building near the flatiron.

    Cons

Underpaid, employees are apathetic with lack of incentive, open work plan is annoying and not conducive to getting work done.

    Advice to Management

Pay good people better and get rid of the riff raff who are asleep on the job.

G2 is an agency that doesn't invest in or care about its people.

    Pros

Great neighborhood. Building has a nice rooftop patio. Hours are not bad. G2 is an agency that has some great people. It has some people who are dedicated to trying to move the agency to the next level. It has some really smart people. It has some really decent people. It has some really nice people.

    Cons

It's lacking at the executive level. It's an agency that's rudderless. It's an agency that makes questionable hires and puts people who lack appropriate experience in key roles. There are factions and fiefdoms. For all the talk about integration there are too many turf wars to make it anything but rough sailing. And these turf wars can and do turn nasty, are highly unprofessional and abusive. It's an agency that can't get out of its own way. It's an agency that thinks Grey is the enemy and spends too much valuable time thinking and talking about Grey. We are no longer a part of Grey. Some shared accounts have walked out the door and landed at Grey but let's get over it and move on! If we had a roster of blue chip clients, were paid for blue chip work and earned blue chip revenue we wouldn’t have to worry about Grey or lay people off when an account walked out the door (because accounts probably wouldn’t). Even if they did there would be revenue in the coffers to cover the ups and downs. The bottom-line is this is not a nice place to work nor is it a healthy place to work. The numbers of people who've been fired let go or who have quit over the past couple of years is extraordinary. Just do a search of G2 on AgencySpy. You'll find a long list of people no longer with us - and these are just the folks you read about. G2 is in the midst of laying off many people which the trades are not reporting. They’re doing it slowly but surely. This is not an agency that invests in its people. Run don't walk if you're ever approached to interview or work here. In a word, it's a mean-spirited, poorly run agency.

    Advice to Management

People are your asset. They're not just numbers on a spreadsheet that can be erased when things don't add up. Change starts at the top and trickles down.
