Great Company, Great Potential for Growth, Unbelievable Opportunities

    Claims Adjuster (Current Employee)
    Dallas, TX

ProsAll the advantages of a mom and pop with the perks of working for a corporation. Management is flexible and understanding about "life situations" and takes an interest in your direction as an employee, regardless of your current position. Management listens to employees and encourages constructive criticism. It's rare to see a corporation of GAINSCO's size take a small idea from a general employee and apply it on a large scale.

ConsHealth benefits are average at best and some departments lack the couth and integrity that others excel in. Additionally, the demographic served is.... difficult... at times.

Advice to Senior ManagementI don't believe entirely in Welch's 20-70-10 philosophy, but I do believe GAINSCO would excel in letting some of its underperformers go. Keep up the great work in listening to your employees and in your unwaivering pursuit to become the best non-standard auto insurance company in the markets we serve.

ProsA very casual work environment. Too casual

ConsOnce you are hired there is no training for your position. You are required to self train and rely on co-workers for assistance. Please do not count on your team leads for leadership. Please I urge you to think long and hard before accepting a position here.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo a clean sweep in managerment and start over.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThere is constant growth and change, you must be able to handle this. In terms of the atmosphere it has a strong and positive energy. Certain departments have strong team synergy

ConsConstant Management changes in most departments. There is a lack of Unity/Vision from a leadership perspective.

Advice to Senior ManagementBring and build consistency within the team. Recognize and value that you must invest in training and development across the board.

    Best place I've ever worked

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Dallas, TX

ProsI recently had a tragedy in my family and I can't tell you the outpouring of support and concern I had from both employees and management. I've been here 5 years and GAINSCO is without a doubt the best place I've ever worked. Other pros: smart, creative employees, management that listens, competitive pay, ability to be creative and see ideas implemented... all in a caring and supportive environment.

Conshealthcare insurance is expensive (but it is, everywhere)

Too many bosses, not enough listening to employees.

    Adjuster (Former Employee)
    Miami, FL

ProsThe regular employees work well with each other.
New office right off the turnpike.

ConsNo bodily injury manager with real authority. You always have to go to HQ for authority.
No raises in the two years that I was there.
If you leave with time accrued, the companies new policy is to not pay for time accrued.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive authority to Miami and let them handle claims.

    special place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThere is a greater sense of energy and excitement at GAINSCO than at any place I've ever worked before. Management listens and most people are happy to be there. It's an unique place to work. There is a sense that something important is being built, and that you are a part of it.

Conspeople work very hard, and that turns some people off. middle management is stretched kind of thin which can be a positive (you get to do more things) and a negative (you have to figure things out yourself)

Advice to Senior Managementtrue profit sharing, and keep the culture of listening to employees alive. we want to keep wanting to work here!
