I have been working at GAINSCO full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall a positive company, with a positive business outlook. Lot's of growth and opportunities. The company culture mirrors one more of a small, grassroots organization.

    Cons

Some of the systems can be dated, but do not present an issue, just a reason to continue growth an exploration.

    Pros

Sounds great, they promise growth and earning potential.

    Cons

Interviews were held two hours from where candidates lived and the hotel charged $10 for parking. I was told over and over they wanted someone who could grow with company but they actually hired an old colleague who will probably provide the same poor results they are used to getting.

    Advice to Management

Don't string candidates along or waste their time.

I have been working at GAINSCO full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people who work here are accepting, talented, and driven. Great training especially if you are new to insurance. It's a smaller company so you get to have a larger scope of your position and get to learn more. Regular interaction with executive leadership, VPs, CEOs. They really recognize people for their talent and will promote the right people instead of just choosing someone who has been there the longest. Good vacation time.

    Cons

GAINSCO is growing quickly and we sometimes are not able to hire people quickly enough.

    Advice to Management

Maternity leave needs vast improvements. Many of your best employees are working mothers and just providing the minimum requirements for short term disability don't show that you value them.

I worked at GAINSCO full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

the pros is that you work with insurance agent in a territory and if you're a people person you'll build life long relationships

    Cons

Unrealistic Monthly Quotas, Consistently shutting down areas that disallows your insurance agents in your territory to send you business. Not a lot of opportunities to grow in the company.

    Advice to Management

    Improve Your Product,

I have been working at GAINSCO full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

All the advantages of a mom and pop with the perks of working for a corporation. Management is flexible and understanding about "life situations" and takes an interest in your direction as an employee, regardless of your current position. Management listens to employees and encourages constructive criticism. It's rare to see a corporation of GAINSCO's size take a small idea from a general employee and apply it on a large scale.

    Cons

Health benefits are average at best and some departments lack the couth and integrity that others excel in. Additionally, the demographic served is.... difficult... at times.

    Advice to Management

I don't believe entirely in Welch's 20-70-10 philosophy, but I do believe GAINSCO would excel in letting some of its underperformers go. Keep up the great work in listening to your employees and in your unwaivering pursuit to become the best non-standard auto insurance company in the markets we serve.

I have been working at GAINSCO full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A very casual work environment. Too casual

    Cons

Once you are hired there is no training for your position. You are required to self train and rely on co-workers for assistance. Please do not count on your team leads for leadership. Please I urge you to think long and hard before accepting a position here.

    Advice to Management

Do a clean sweep in managerment and start over.

    Pros

    Benefits and pay are decent

    Cons

No organization when assigning claims. Doral office loves to gossip and talk about each other

    Advice to Management

Submit claims assignment evenly and fairly

    Pros

There is constant growth and change, you must be able to handle this. In terms of the atmosphere it has a strong and positive energy. Certain departments have strong team synergy

    Cons

Constant Management changes in most departments. There is a lack of Unity/Vision from a leadership perspective.

    Advice to Management

Bring and build consistency within the team. Recognize and value that you must invest in training and development across the board.
