I have been working at GCA Savvian full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Awesome access to senior leadership. Great senior bankers and lean deal teams. Great opportunity to learn from senior bankers (not as institutionalized as larger banks).

    Cons

Branding. Website could use an update. Maybe consider doing a name change as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on branding. Also do not know if hiring more senior bankers is the proper way to grow the business. Current Analyst to MD ratio is around 1:3.

I have been working at GCA Savvian full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fantastic people at all levels of the organization. Senior bankers come from premier firms, are very skilled, and deliver excent service and analysis to clients. Deal flow is very good, and clients are typically at exciting stages in their growth trajectory. Many opportunities to step up and value both internally and externally with clients.

    Cons

The firm is only 10 years old, so the brand is still developing.

I have been working at GCA Savvian

    Pros

Great atmosphere, incredibly smart people, and money on par with the street. The hours are actually a little better than bulge bracket firms, but they still are kinda crappy.

    Cons

GCA Savvian's lack of brand recognition on the street hurts exit ops, but if you network right, this should not hurt you. Of course this is an i-bank and the hours suck, but you know this going into it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on building a brand name for the firm!!!

    Cons

Poor senior management, international but not global.

I have been working at GCA Savvian full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great culture, with very nice colleagues. The organization is very flexible. If you want to pursue one thing, it's easy to pursue. Many cross border transactions compared to peers. Have good relationship with many of the leading companies in U.S. and Japan. Compared to peers, the size is small, but in terms of M&A advisory, the company already has competitive number of professionals.

    Cons

Compensation package is less attractive compared with larger banks (but I regard experience here as a very good learning opportunity - you can challenge many things if you can convince MDs)

    I worked at GCA Savvian

    Pros

Good place to learn the fundamentals of IB for someone looking to break into the industry. Good reputation in the industry.

    Cons

The firm will provide you no experience in products other than M&A and private capital. They have a highly risky model, as deal flow dries up completely during market fluctuations.
Culturally - no regard for junior employees. HR is non-existant with basic performance appraisal process. Staffing decisions are highly politics/influence/access driven - need to be in the white boys club to get good projects

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve hr and staffing processes. build diversity in the organization
