    Pros

Generally, there is a congenial atmosphere among the lower to mid-level employees.

    Cons

Senior management, like most in corporate America today, is focused solely on the bottom line. It often seems that no matter how productive an employee is, more is always expected. Most salaried employees are expected to work a minimum of at least 50 to 60 hours per week, often including weekends and holidays, and uninterrupted vacation time is almost unheard of.

    Advice to Management

Come out of your offices and get to know the staff. Take a lesson from the former CEO who was so highly regarded. He made an effort to learn the names of many of the employees. Being more approachable can help to boost morale. As it is, most of the lower level employees seem to feel that the only time upper management speaks to them is when they criticize some aspect of their job performance.

    Pros

Pay was decent, 40 hour work week most of the time.

    Cons

No training whatsoever; management is totally reactive as opposed to proactive...blamed everything on underlings for their lack of proper training and education. Fired people left and right without giving anyone a path for corrective action. Very unstable environment.

    Pros

Pay is great for the customer service field, pays well above any other call center job, $15/hr for call center reps, $20/hr for supervisors, and $24/hr for managers. There are no benefits though as no one is hired on, most everyone is a temporary employee under contract and it will stay that way, but there is not much difference between permanent and hourly employees so that's great. Also, the hours are reasonable. 40 hours a week, chances for overtime a couple times a month.

    Cons

Turnover is EXTREMELY high, cuts are constantly happening which increases stress level.
Management staff is not encouraging at all and can actually be down right rude. Also, management and supervisors love to play favorites. Hard work does not mean as much as sucking up and making sure the higher ups see your face every day. Opportunities are often only provided to individuals that management or supervisors like and it is hard to move up unless they are doing a mass hiring (which within a month means a miss firing).

    Advice to Management

Be kind. Stop looking for someone to blame and take responsibility. Be understanding. If there is a problem, provide clear instruction on what needs to be done to fix it and then follow up and work with the person to make sure that problem is being fixed. This will save so much time and may actually better the business instead of putting so much time into looking for who to blame for an issue. The business is yours, take a personal responsibility to fix it. And again, take more time to give someone an "atta boy" or note their strengths instead of only their weakness, you never know how someone will take your criticism and how much it truly effects their lives.

    Pros

A strong culture of employees who want to succeed and work together successfully.

    Cons

An environment that succeeds only in demotivating those who hope to excel. If you're not an attorney, you're a second class citizen.

    Pros

The culture shared by those of a similar rank can be friendly and inviting.

    Cons

Low Pay, Terrible Work-Life Balance, Difficult to Advance.

    Advice to Management

The company is blatantly top-heavy with respect to salary and unwilling to compromise. This point has been openly discussed in "Town Hall Meetings" and is never addressed. In addition, the working conditions under different Directors vary so wildly that everyone works under different rules.

    Pros

Some of the people, usually the ones you don't work with become your friends, because the ones you do work with will stab you in the back or throw you under the bus at any given moment. The legal department is known for that. Healthy snack Wednesdays was a pro. Upper and Middle management is awful.

    Cons

HR lies to you; you get bullied into signing statements that are untrue and when you try to take the opportunity to make a rebuttal, you are again bullied. This is truly an awful place to work, no life home balance.

    Advice to Management

Stop and look at what you are doing to your dedicated employees, you have no idea how lucky you are that some of them are still there. The old saying is that the fish stinks from the head down, treat your employees the way you would want someone to treat a family member when employed. You should clear house on management and start over.

    Pros

GCG is a good solid company. It offers many benefits one being its location on long island location (nassau county just before queens). The people at this organization are truly amazing and Senior management is taking great steps to make this a wonderful working enviornment.

    Cons

The hours can be really long

    Advice to Management

Continue to implement the changes you'll have happier employees!

    Pros

Some very smart people, it's also a pleasure working for the company that is best in the field. Shared goals create great comraderie- everyone pushes everyone else.

    Cons

You may be defined by your mistakes rather than your accomplishments. This creates an atmosphere of fear which can be counterproductive.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge there are smart and dedicated people working for you, doing so will boost morale and increase retention.

    Pros

Poor pay; zero feedback; petty and vindictive behavior by all management. I have 20+ years working at major institutions. This place is minor league at best.

    Cons

On call all the time and below market pay. A culture that wants to shift ownership of work from management as far down the ladder as it can go - management is covered with Teflon so they never have to take the blame for failure or mistakes.
