I have been working at GCS full-time

    Pros

The company is a "body shop" so they don't have much staff, they provide workers to other companies as sub contractors.

The people are good overall, the corporate group is easy to work with and do a good job.
The benefits are solid overall. Medical is good, but 401(k) is only ok. They put a flat 2% above your salary, but no match. Salary is good overall. Vacation is good. Sick time and vacation are lumped together so you functionally get an extra week of vacation.

    Cons

No cohesion. You rarely get to know any actual GCS employees apart from those on your contract.
Within GCS itself you don't seem to have anywhere to go upward really.

I have been working at GCS as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

I want to express my gratitude by publicly giving thanks to GCS for creating a culture where hard work and dedication is not only appreciated but rewarded. GCS took he time to shower me with accolades about my performance in supporting a certain Government client in the Intelligence Community, and also provide an unexpected bonus and pay increase.
Hard work and dedication to the mission is of upmost importance in this environment and I feel as if GCS instills the commitment to support these vital U.S. government missions. My service to my country is rewarding; an added bonus is that I’m surrounded by talented, competent colleagues. I appreciate leadership that recognize that family is first if/when the need arises.
My Program Manager and Team Lead are men of integrity with high values and standards both on the job, in their family and in the community.

    Cons

I can't think of one thing that I'm unhappy with about woring for GCS.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I feel that it’s an honor to work for GCS and hope that they continue to hire responsible co-workers who share these internal values that help make all of us a success.

I have been working at GCS as an intern (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company values and always wants the best from their workers.

    Cons

Not much interaction with high school interns and it wouldn't hurt to be paid more

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think this company should just be more involved with employees especially high school interns.

    Pros

GCS - Geocontrol Systems Inc. is a small business. Their goals are set gain government contracts. The jobs are high in technology of monitoring, testing, communication, diagnosing technical issues, and administrative services.

    Cons

Contracts are limited for projects. Company needs to bid more on jobs to help promote their staff who really desire work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since this a family owned business, I wish all members of the family would be on the same page.

    Pros

Small company so you get to know all of the employees

    Cons

Some managers only want "yes people" and don't want to hear or address real problems

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the employees who work for you. They generally are right in their assessments of the situation.

I worked at GCS full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Working for GCS, I guess depending on the contract, will afford you a pretty decent rate of pay and good benefits.

    Cons

On the flip side of that, GCS doesn't do much to advocate for their employees on various job sites. You are being contracted in for a reason. Many times the full-time permanent employees at a particular site are incompetent, and you are there to make up for that incompetence.

I have been working at GCS

    Pros

Paid government holidays. They're a subcontractor, so everyone thinks you work for a big company (primary contractor), but you don't.

    Cons

Poor pay. Low tuition reimbursement (3500/yr). They're a subcontractor, so everyone thinks you work for a big company, but you don't.

Only way to get a raise is to change jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give people raises as incentives to keep doing their job well.

Otherwise, people are always on a learning curve, and not performing as well as they could.
