I worked at GE Capital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Overall great company to work for with very talented employees. Individuals have considerable amount of accountability and therefore the work can be challenging but very rewarding. The company invests in training talented employees and provided them with opportunities to move around the company.

    Cons

Some high level executives can be detached from their staff and tends to be high turnover at the senior levels.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your staff and invest in their professional growth.

    Pros

They are committed to investment in training, provide opportunity to take on new roles & challenges if you prove you can do well in your current role, very execution focused and rewarded based on delivery, very high in flexibility for work / life issues as appropriate,

    Cons

Leadership is not connected and contradicts each other. Highly matrixed organization that makes things more difficult to get things done. Health benefits are horrible (high out of pocket expenses.) Selling most of the business, so career path is becoming more limited.

    Advice to Management

Create a more fun place to work. Ever since the regulations started in 2009, it has become a more and more negative environment to be in. For the businesses that are staying with GE, focus on it being a place people want to come to every day. That soft stuff is SO much more important then you pay attention to.

I have been working at GE Capital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Friendly co-workers and great team atmosphere ... a lot of work but rewarding. Access to training and senior leaders is fantastic for such a large company

    Cons

Most of the business is getting sold ...

    Advice to Management

Don't give up on the talent that is still at GE Capital

I have been working at GE Capital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Tend to have smart people working towards common goals. There is an opportunity to leverage the larger GE community when solving problems.

    Cons

The business is being divested from GE. There will be no further job or growth opportunities here.

    Advice to Management

Be more open with communication during the divestiture period. The level of uncertainty in the organization drives too many rumors and too much indecision.

I have been working at GE Capital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

GECC is a class act, giving its employees significant notice of its intent to divest and treating them fairly and with compassion after breaking the news to them.

    Cons

Could have planned the work going forward a bit better. There were some noticeable lulls in direction and necessary tasks to be done after the announcement. Seems to be moving along now.

    Advice to Management

Prepare for the possibility that the Fed will not let you off the SIFI hook so easily.

I have been working at GE Capital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good Compensation, having GE Capital on your resume, training.

    Cons

Terrible work/life balance. Rampant mis-management of resources.Allowing people to post to roles that they have no business being in. Organization. Is full of individuals who look good on paper but have terrible work ethic and team first mentality.

    Advice to Management

None,as the company is divesting there is no advice to give since the company has no future beyond the end of 2016.
