Pros
Opportunities to grow
Carries the General Electric brand which is always a plus
Cons
Management tends to have its favorites. (cliques)
Pros
Wide range of businesses, roles, and locations. Professional development is only limited by one's imagination and energy. Strong networking opportunities.
Cons
In the post financial crisis years, the business has necessarily reduced opportunities to live and work abroad. Certain businesses remain insecure about future prospects.
Advice to Senior Management
Understandably, the business has moved towards a strategy of localized talent. Unfortunately, the ability to live and work in other countries is a powerful motivator for the workforce and imparts certain experiences and skills that cannot be found elsewhere. Perhaps the business should look into a less expensive mechanism than the GME process to bring back these opportunities.
Pros
Large Multinational, good opportunity to advance career
Cons
Americanisms, relying almost exclusively the quarterly performance above all else.
Advice to Senior Management
Hit the numbers and take responsibility for your own career advancement. Opportunities are there !!
Pros
Hands on work with exciting groundbreaking projects. Company is constantly on cutting edge trying new things.
Cons
Human Resources is awful. The yearly review process is backwards, they rate you and decide your pay before doing your yearly review (EMS). However, they spend millions trying to tell you how important the EMS process is... Company is quickly overlooking the integrity culture.
Advice to Senior Management
Take the time to udnertand what your HR people are doing. Stop bringing in "experts" from outside that stay less than 2 years.
Pros
Challenging environnement. Dynamic people and organisation. If you are good and passionnate, you will be able to have a promotion.
Cons
The organisation is a bit selfish in a way that they to do what they want and not always think about the "human" impact.
Advice to Senior Management
Please continue to support growth in promoting good candidate. Always remember that GE is not good because of its name, but rather because of its people.
