    Pros

The Company does or thrives to do the right thing. Look at the transformation it has gone through since the '08 crisis.

    Cons

Difference between HQ and local business units working culture. (HQ is far more professional vs. local heroes and celebrities going around in the sub-businesses)

I have been working at GE Capital full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay is on the higher end. The working arrangements are flexible and there are many networking opportunities to be involved in charities and affinity groups. On the whole, people are friendly and supportive.

    Cons

There are too many leaders who like to talk about strategy and ideate and because everyone is a leader, there are very few people left to do stuff. The senior leaders like to play golf on company time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are some strong leaders in the organization. It would be nice to see some of the more senior leaders sit at the same lunch table as the people on their teams. Instead, all of the senior leaders eat with each other to the exclusion of others and it creates an 'us' and 'them' dynamic.

    Pros

Great company to work for, ability to transfer world-wide if one chooses. Extremely involved in the community, tuition reimbursement, on site fitness center.

    Cons

Since the GE location in Cedar Rapids is considered a call center, the salaries are alot lower than other local companies with the same jobs.

I worked at GE Capital full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Awesome Benefits and Competitive pay.

    Cons

Was one of the top sellers on my team then hit a slow hurdle in my first year, while they did have a coach to try to help me they were ready to throw me to the fire instead of letting me go back down to my old department with a lower sales goal. From that point forward I felt like the company simple did not care about your previous performance and any bad stream of not meeting demanding call center goals could lead to a quick walk out the door. They took people straight from training into the sales team when we applied we had no clue what we were getting into. They let go a lot of people due to stricter regulations and policy because of not meeting metrics then this team was fizzled out and they no longer do add on phone sales. After being placed on formal so quick I just lost my motivation and never recovered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not all of the employees are going to be a turnover figure. Treat us like we will be working there for the long haul and more people will.

Retention should be a major goal, you're most experienced employees shouldn't average out to being there for a year or two. Retention issues make up the majority of call center stigma and the factual downsides.
