I have been working at GE Capital full-time

    Pros

Inclusive corporate culture, where you can easily reach out to anyone to learn more as you develop your skills. The training programs are very strong.

    Cons

GE Capital is a piece of a large international company, and at times it can be inflexible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company values are a key strength and should remain a priority moving forward.

I have been working at GE Capital full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

-Team is a lot of fun, makes the day fly by
-Pretty good pay, was much higher than my other offers
-Good benefits, flexible work schedule. I can basically just walk in my boss' office and ask to leave if I have something I need to take care of. Can also work from home when I want.
-Open about performance - what you do well and what you need to work on
-Want you to get experience in other groups - basically require you to post your resume on their internal site so other managers can find you for other job opportunities

    Cons

-Salary only - no profit sharing, stock bonuses, etc
-Very defined structure (focused on years of experience) makes it hard to get a promotion unless you have the experience HR wants at each level
-Seems like the number of vacation days is a little lower than other companies
-With the complexity of the job, I feel like there should be more training to motivate innovation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Look for opportunities to train employees to encourage new, advanced, and innovative methods
-Focus on merit based promotions as opposed to experience

    Pros

Challenging. Great opportunity to change jobs

    Cons

Bureaucratic, slow to change. Compliance Tax and legal are stifling growth. Too conservative

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mangment is hit or miss. You have great managers and sub par managers

    I worked at GE Capital

    Pros

Professional working environment, globally recognized name. People are hard working and employee engagement is big.

    Cons

Every other word is an acronym. Pay was sub-average. Everything is about the bottom line, so expect resources to be paper thin while expectations remain sky high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allocate more resources to salary and less to team building. Show a little humility.

I have been working at GE Capital

    Pros

Decent compensation, nice and friendly people - most of whom are trying to add value. Lots of internal resources available to gain insights, background and historical context as needed for particular projects.

    Cons

Managers are selected based on criteria that seems to defy logic. The company has renamed itself, split up and merged various divisions so many times that no one knows enough about their current responsibilities in order to accomplish a whole lot. Either way, it doesn't matter...the org chart will change again in a few months anyway.

I have been working at GE Capital

    Pros

They are very diversified and place a lot of weight into growing and training their employees.

    Cons

Sometimes they are slow to act, since there can be a lot of red tape to cut through in order to get something done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen, share, and allow employees to make mistakes in order to grow.

    Cons

I worked at GE Capital as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with as well as a lot of resources to socialize and meet new people after work. Coworkers and upper management I dealt with were very easy to work with and helpful in training.

    Cons

It took a 2 weeks to get me a computer once I started interning. Because of this, I was doing filing work. Then it took another 2 weeks to get me the software I needed. so in the meantime, I was doing data entry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you're doing: weekly meetings, joining workers for lunch/dinner, etc

I have been working at GE Capital full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Wide range of businesses and roles.
Very good career opportunities. It is supported by the management to move between departments or even between different businesses.
There is a possibility to travel a lot between different locations
The company puts a lot of resources to provide training for employees, professional development is only limited by one's energy and imagination.

    Cons

The management initiates changes very frequently, from time to time and it takes a lot of time to catch up with them.

    Recommends
    Negative Outlook
    Approves of CEO
