I have been working at GE Commercial Finance Limited
Pros – Having GE on your resume will serve you well for years to come. The Company is large with many people holding valuable knowledge regarding a plethora of business areas. Thus the key is to leverage these opportunities and learn as much as possible. It is a great stepping stone for the future, but advancing steadily through the ranks is difficult, as competition is fierce. Training is limited when you start, the Company likes to see if you sink or swim in a independent, highly complex environment. If you are recognized as "GE material", the Company will spare no expense grooming and training you. If not, well, GE isn't one of the oldest companies in the world by carrying dead-weight.
Cons – The pay is not quite competitive with market. But if you are in it for the knowledge and understand that money will come later (perhaps in another company) it is worth the investment. Plus the benefits and learning experiences outweigh the meager pay in the long run. But if you cannot rise through the ranks fast enough and they got you out of school, you'll need to keep you're eyes peeled at other opportunities. Else you'll be stuck living with the "inflation adjustment" for awhile.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work in promoting and believing in younger generations.
