Pros
Good Work life balance.
Employee friendly.
Lots and Lots of trainings.
Cons
Salary is average.
Arrogant attitude of people who stays there for long(My personal experience)
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing much
Pros
-Great canteen with choice of 3 or more caterers.
-Free biscuits and coffee during breaks.
-JFWTC is a great campus that GE have spent quite a lot of monies on.
-Free parking when on holidays.
-Diversity at work promoted very well.
-Ideal place for learning power point skills..........everyone seems to be good at it.
-Citibank ATM facility within JFWTC............with the salaries they pay , you wont be visiting it often though.
Cons
-Non existent HR..........have to beg to get certain things done and have to eek your way through messes caused by them in the first place.
-Leadership have no clue on how to run certain modalities in Healthcare.
-Over complicated and often rubbish processes............roll out of another garbage can of processes every other day..........even senior management have no idea why things are done the way they are...........guess it all just rolls downhill from somewhere up there.
-Managers are least interested in technology and dont want employees to enhance their domain knowledge.............its seems to them Six Sigma solves everything automatically.
-Integrity is a big joke in GE...........personal experience has seen managers passing on falsified documents to keep themselves in the clear and blatantly lying about their errors.
-Colleagues who have left the company were harassed when they put in their papers..........all the more reason to stay away.
-You think GE looks good on your resume...........its a farce..........engineers be warned .............. competent technical people at other companies will see through you if spend a lot of time at GE.
-Run like a typical govt organisation.........heavily bureaucratic........ no one really cares if you doze all day at work.
Advice to Senior Management
-Practice what you preach..........if you want to employees to have integrity , show some in the first place.
-Six Sigma cannot solve techical issues............its only a analysis tool and no substitute for domain knowledge.
-Get the HR act together..........its non existent now.
-Employees are your true wealth...........treat them with respect.
Pros
good work - life balance.
Cons
lot of processes for even a small stuff
Advice to Senior Management
try to reduce processes
Pros
Great work culture
Work life balance
Great opportunities to grow
Cons
Number of processes and meetings are more.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work
Pros
- Work life balance
- Flexible Timings
Cons
- Incompetent Senior Resources who are reluctant to move with the times
- All it matters is the "job being done"
- Stale technologies, Stale processes
- Too much focus on execution rather than technical excellence
- Remuneration is not par.
- All that matters end of the day is "face value" and shamelessly taking credit for stuff. (Fact: Managers advertise this openly)
- Everything the international team is seeing is fake. Days before international team arrives most teams have meetings and are given strict instructions on how to behave what questions to ask. Ppl are warned not to ask questions which would make the international team uncomfortable.
- Too many managers for no reason which leads to role clashes and needless to say ego clashes too.
- Too many useless meetings and online trainings and tests.. (feels like highschool)
If you are a more than avg developer who really(read: passionately) likes to write code AVOID this place. You would be reduced to a dishwasher.
If you're are an avg developer who is thinking about moving to Program / Project management THIS is the place.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your engineers with a little more respect, hire really competent resources. End of the day the engineers make the product keep them happy. "Execution" is overrated say that 10 times to yourself. Most teams would work well without managers.
Pros
If you want to go the leadership route, taking ownership, executing projects, following processes and audits, etc, this is the place for you.
Cons
GE is not a software development shop.
Advice to Senior Management
GE Healthcare in India, and pretty much any offshore dev center in India is not an acquisition. The centers in India start with the intent of presence, time zone advantage, cost advantage, knowledge of English, presence of Indian community in the US, and other factors. If we look outside of US in other countries having dev centers, they are mostly acquisitions, that means there are some top notch people who developed something from scratch that was useful. Thats credibility, and that keeps the level of technical work up, unlike in India where Indian managers from US return to their home town for 'family reasons' and then take it easy, buying property, investing in equity, and going on holidays in 5* hotels, and are pretty much unaccountable for any design or architecture decision, reviews of docs/code, incharge of executing a platform development project, and other top-notch work. They have never been a 'Fellow' in a top company, they may have patents (we know how the patent game is) but they will not have papers to their credit. They are pretty much talkative with american accent, and Indian politics skills.
Pros
The quality of the work is good....There is oppurtunity to learn new technologies and work is new....unlike many places where the work is on legacy systems
Cons
Since it is not a pure software oriented company, processes are too strict and bought over from various divisions like GE Transport, Ge energy etc.....Due to this employees at lower levels of the pyramid are not treated well...Only managers are paid well
Pros
work life balance
Senior management
Growth opportunities
Great people ,Meritocracy organisation
Open Management culture
Great place to work for a self starter and the passionate.
Cons
Compensation
Compliance industry demands plenty of process adherence.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve the compensation and recruitment rigor.
Pros
Integrity is high. Good work life balance. Not so much of pres sure. Good work life balance. Stability. Decent Salary here.
Cons
Lots of processes. Lots of documents to manage. Not good quality work. Most good quality work in US. Not good for software career. May be good for Engineer career.
Advice to Senior Management
Bring more good work to India. Do not just follow process. Higher the right candidate. Dont make him a mismatch. Thats all.
Pros
1. good learning in technology & leadership
2. high visibility & appreciation
3. good work-life balance
4. wfh option
5. good managers and HR Policies are nice
Cons
1) Salary is less and promotions are too late
2) Too much of ppt stuff
3) Technical skills are given less preference over leadership skills
Advice to Senior Management
balance technology and leadership
