    Pros

    Really good work life balance, descent pay, descent work, No pressure at all

    Cons

    Some times feels boring for youngsters who wants more work, pay is not that competitive.

    Advice to Management

    Award employees based on their knowledge and achievements, not just based on number of years completed in GE

    Pros

    You are given very good responsibilities as an intern and also rewarded for your performances.

    Cons

    Pay is quite low for interns.

    Pros

    None , not even the brand name as it does not help anywhere.

    Cons

    - Negative environment due to frustration in old employees
    - Poor salary even if you are joining new
    - Hostile Culture towards new joinees by older employees
    - Old systems with no opportunity to learn, only testing related activities
    - Managers are old cart pullers who will always try to fool and cheat the employees. Only the incompetent lot stays and works with these managers because they are made incompetent by giving bad testing work. (Caution: This is the case with all the teams)
    - I have seen pathetic managers / senior managers getting promoted by exploiting and cheating the team members.
    - Poor work home balance due to traffic problems around the JFWTC (Normal days it takes 1-2 hours to cover 3 kilometers)
    - No work from home

    Advice to Management

    Stop being clannish and bring up the right people under you.

    Pros

    Employee oriented policies (if you can adopt yourself as per them and follow and use them)
    Work from home
    Work ownership (you are propelled to work as if you are owner)
    Great Campus, subsidized food
    A lots of 'other than work' things (plenty to choose from as per your interest & if you are free) to grow your visibility.
    A lot of initiatives

    Cons

    Leadership comes up with new things (sometimes completely scrapping what happened last year, but its fine for them and if you do the same not good for you) which some time feel like 'old wine in new bottle'. And you got to comply to it.
    There are 4 things on growth in GE :
    1. Visibility : All your growth is decided by this factor, how much you make yourself visible.
    2. Perception : It doesn't matter if you have written a code that would even Google proud but if 'they' have not seen it, you have not written it no matter how hard you slogged. 'They' will not bother on thinking how the product was delivered with your contribution. Between visibility and perception (of yours by others) you have to really advertise yourself (sometime even with false things!)
    3. Manager : Holds all your accesses. He is the one who will decide everything for you including what training you can nominate yourself, what other entitlements are applicable to you, salary. (Be prepared to bargain for 100 bucks if you happen to take your team out for lunch or outing). All he will do for you to get the opinions of others for you and give it to you at end of the year, its your problem to solve this puzzle now.
    4. 'They' : Very interestingly (and very very conveniently from leadership perceptive) 'they' include everyone except you even if you are not working with some one in your team. All seniors (who have visibility and hence have authority to form perceptions) are free to give their opinions about you and you never know when it happened and who gave it.

    And be prepared to listen 'oh this year GE is not doing well as dollar price is very high......oh this year our sales did good but other business did not do well (even though you can show manager Jeff Imelt's mail on yearly profit).....oh this year company's focus is on this and this & hence we did not get enough budget...' all these things where you can hardly do anything while discussing hike. Sometimes it gives feeling that your manager has really fought hard to give you great great (5, 6%) hike.

    Bottomline is there is a certain growth culture in GE, if you are to join, study it and you can adopt yourself to this culture and become 'GEised' higher chances are there for you to grow (but still very little chances on growing in current technologies). You are supposed to be loyal, have integrity and transparency with GE but other way round it will not hold true.

    Advice to Management

    Be little more approachable.
    Take more 'ownership' and be more 'proactive' in helping employees achieving their goals (set by you, for you mostly)
    Be open to correct managers and HRs if employee has a point which he can prove and be willing to change his rating based on that. Don't be too rigid to say 'once it is done, its done, nothing can be done now'.
    Try to minimize the gap between employees and management.
    And please teach managers not to bargain with some one for 100 bucks for arranging team outing and lunches (its really feel shameful and many resort guys have already said they feel hard to work with GE folks due to this attitude) - Personal experience.

    Pros

    GE has a very friendly environment with people motivating each other towards success. All the senior members are also very helpful and provide good career guidance.

    Cons

    I had an internship in GE Healthcare and if you want to get into full time position, it is one of the hardest challenge there as people give you tough competition for a full time position there.

    Advice to Management

    It is the place to grow and you are paid good benefits if you do well within the first year of your joining. They also have a promotional offer where they pay you get talented individuals to the company.
