Pros
Talented people, diverse products, backing of larger GE, leadership development
Cons
Will try to grow profitability by cutting people then wonder why they don't have new products to sell. Sub businesses within GE Healthcare compete with each other and do not have any motivation from leadership to work together on products. Business is unwilling to walk away from a bad investment once they say they are doing it(Qualibria).
Advice to Senior Management
Know when to say enough is enough. Do not let your business units compete with each other, it is bad for business, teams and most importantly customers. Finance 101, you can only cut your way to profitability for so long and replacing all the leadership will not solve the problem that created.
Pros
At work for a healthier world
Great place to solve operational problems
Smart people
Evolving culture
Great products
Cons
* Too self-service driven
* Internal people processes and systems are clunky and complicated
* Preference for getting it 50% right and begin execution without full though out integrated strategy
* There is such an urgency to execute you have multiple people working on redundant efforts going in different directions
* Technology systems are clunky and many bolt-on applications
* Too much reliance on blogs and email
* New hires left to swim or sink
* For a process "lean" driven organization their processes reflect a high degree of complexity
* Operational strength can be a strategic weakness
* Difficult at taking risks...like to proof test ideas, slow to change
