I have been working at GE Healthcare

    Pros

Great people, lots of educational experiences. Very flexible schedule/work environment.

    Cons

    Rotating leadership.
    Constant change.
    Many layers of leadership

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be bold and invest.
Change is good - allows for evolution. Constant change doesn't leave room to evaluate and understand the next direction.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

A few good people to work with.
    Work-life balance is decent.
Lots of travel, if you like that.
    Pretty good pay.

    Cons

Where to begin? There's a lot to cover...

If you like working for the megalomaniacal, Emperor-with-no-clothes type of leadership, this place is for you.
Incompetence reigns at the top;managing directors and CEO are the most inept people I've ever worked with.
Horrible leadership, no mentoring, micro-management of absolutely ridiculous minutiae, such as Powerpoint boxes lining up and font sizes, while they botch up engagements and product rollouts across customer sites.
    Health benefits are really bad.
PowerPoint is the standard communication medium. You'll be burned at the stake if you try to suggest using something more effective.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit. You have no business running a consulting org, or any other for that matter, you're in over your head.
Advice to GE Healthcare's CEO? Eliminate the Healthcare Partners organization. It's deeply broken and a meaningless distraction.

I'm going to enjoy taking your business away in my next role. LOL

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Just as with any large company, available resources and professional networking opportunities are plentiful. The benefits package, work culture and workers are motivated and great to work with. Excellent work-life balance, if not a little heavy on the life side. Work climate is tedious with about 1000+ staff reduced in the past 18 months.

    Cons

Tremendous amount of IP has left the comp[any with the large layoffs in the past 18 months Leadership is authoritarian and lacking long term vision. All goals are measured by quarterly results aligned to meet the managers personal bonus incentives with little regard to long term impacts to the short term decisions. Decisions regarding negative outcomes are made with little empirical data.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leaders please lead. Be involved with your teams, not just the GM you directly supervise. Know the people your GM's manage. MBWA (manage by walking around) - see and feel the "temperature" of the workers being asked to produce so much with so little. When you have a GM who demonstrates authoritarian leadership qualities - immediately get ride of them - one rotten apple will spoil the entire bushel quickly. Directly complement employees that demonstrate a culture of cross-functionality and who encourage and mentor others.
