I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Generous holiday/PTO, Flexible schedule, Work From Home. Opportunities to apply from within and tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

Executive management tends to make decisions based on bottom line without concern for the people needed to make them happen. Many are working 70+ hours per week trying to keep up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please consider how your ideas impact the very people you rely on to make them come to fruition.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, and they really want people to grow to be leaders. They also try to involve employees in the community, but there is not available time to volunteer.

    Cons

High stress environment. There is an expectation to work from home and any and all hours. This is difficult if you have a family.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    - You get to work on products that quite literally save lives every day
    - Good leadership development programs and some of the brightest people in the world as your coworkers

    Cons

    - Lots of red tape and bureaucracy. Senior leadership and front line managers and staff get it and are trying to improve but the middle layers of management are holding back from change
    - Short term focus (quarterly results) tends to sacrifice long term investments in growth

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work hard to assess what kinds of leaders we have in middle management. Even one bad senior leader can demotivate entire segments of the organization

I worked at GE Healthcare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Competitive Salary, challenging work. Flexible work arrangements are informal and usually encouraged since they will get their 50+ hours from you regardless of how you work.

    Cons

Too much bureaucracy. Expectation that you will work 50+ hours per week or you must not have enough to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace the senior executives who continue to get re-shuffled. Many of them are good at navigating GE but don't have industry depth.

I worked at GE Healthcare full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Terrific co-workers - could not ask for better. Very flexible work from home policy. Salary is excellent, pleasant surroundings. Massive amounts of work, you will never be "bored".

    Cons

Leadership does not understand amount of work necessary to accomplish last minute changes - they do not abide by processes - thereby putting tremendous pressure on teams since timeline does not change. Teams are squeezed from both ends to accomplish.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership needs to abide by the processes set in place so that workflow works! Either that or allow that the timelines may change.

    I worked at GE Healthcare

    Pros

Many many resources at your disposal. If you work hard you will go far with the company. Benefits are great compared to other companies in the industry. Many discount perks such as electronics, software, wireless service, etc.

    Cons

Organization structure very dynamic and in constant flux. Less support from senior management. Too many on-line training requirements. Employee encouraged but at times expected to engage in extracurricular activities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider a smother/longer on-boarding or transitioning process for a new employee, because there are too many processes and too much to absorb in a given time.

    Cons

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Excellent pay and benefits, great coworkers and teams. Good quiet atmosphere, volunteer opportunities as well as opportunities to grow and advance.

    Cons

Very little in the way of onboarding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a strong onboarding program. With such a complex organization, new hires need clear outlines and go-to individuals or sites.

I have been working at GE Healthcare as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Good work/life balance. Helpful co workers. Friendly atmosphere. Managers understand you have a life outside the company and they do too. Good perks like generous break room, lots off different coffee and teas available for the taking. A lot of sponsored lunches with good food. Work is usually pretty fast paced at times, but never really overwhelming. Well appointed as far as equipment like PCs printers, scanners, and network very efficient.

    Cons

If there is one major downside, it would be the pay. GE seems to pay their employees about 20% under the going rate compared to other companies. Also training is not uniform and in many cases is non existent. If you are the type who thrives being a self starter, you will love it here. If you need more structure, however, this is not the company for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to decide on their goals, policies and procedures BEFORE they initiate a project. I personally have redone the same support material three times because they couldn't decide on a format.
