Pros
- Exciting industry
- Global exposure
- Meaningful work projects... see my products at work every day
- Leadership development
- Opportunity to develop career not only within GETS but GE
Cons
- Strong operational metrics drive short term focus
- You have to have self control... GE will accept everything you want to give
Pros
1. The GE brand
2. Benefits
3. Six Sigma Training
Cons
Horrible work culture at the Grain Valley Campus
1. Every employee only care for themselves. If a new employee ask for assistance or guidance, the more senior employee will not help, citing direct orders from the Manager to do so. When confronted, all the Team Lead or the Manager say is "Shut up and get your job done, else we'll get someone else to do your job".
2. Back-stabbing is a norm and is accepted by management.
3. No team spirit within the GETS work groups.
Incompetent Management at the Grain Valley Campus
1. Managers will not come down to the field to talk and encourage employees.
2. Favoritism is rampant. It's about how you butter-up to your manager.
3. Team leads will throw any team member 'under-the-bus' just to save their own jobs.
4. Ridiculous expectations. Everything should have been done 'yesterday'.
Advice to Senior Management
1. Get rid of the 'rank-and-stack' culture of evaluating your employee's performance.
2. Don't hire folks who don't fit in your dog-eat-dof culture. Simple as that.
Pros
GE is a great company with an amazing reputation. There is a lot of opportunity inside of GE Transportation and GE as a company. The benefits package is said to be incredible.
Cons
GE is going to work you very hard. Depending on your role with GE, vacations and time off become non-existent. There are always calls 24-hrs a day (part of being a global company), and 60-hour weeks are the norm....not the exception.
Advice to Senior Management
Be sure you understand all the outcomes before decisions are made.
