I worked at GEICO full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Benefits - Business Casual Dress Code - They do a lot of internal promoting (we will get into that shortly)

    Cons

    - Salaries seem to be below industry average - Dependability standards (if you are sick, don't stay home-come into work and spread the love so that your dependability won't suffer) - mandatory Saturday shifts; schedule can change on a whim -- MDP SPP SLP ELP= By continually rotating in a fresh crop of children just out of college and directly into their development programs, GEICO is able to maintain a high turnover rate in most supervisory positions. This subsequently allows GEICO to maintain lower salaries for most positions, as supervisors are constantly rotated out of their positions. This fresh crop of newly grads is comprised of kids seeking to enter the workforce and begin paying off the mountain of debt they acquired while going to heaven and hell parties-in other words, they don't demand the salary a more seasoned, experienced employee would. It's a great business plan, and Enterprise Holdings also sports a similar model. On the Claims Service Representative floor (CSR), this means that CSRs are constantly training new supervisors (I've had 10+ in two years).

    Advice to Management

    - Re-evaluate CSR metrics (the Customer Service Survey (CSS) metric is ridiculous); for example, I was rated a 5 for Customer Experience, received 4 "excellent" surveys, 3 "very good", and 1 "poor" and yet was rated a 1 in the CSS metric; this did not take into consideration that the "poor" survey was due to the customer being upset about a number of things that were not associated with that customer's interaction with me
