I have been working at GEO Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

There are a lot of opportunities for promotion, but that is mostly due to the extent of employee turnover due to dissatisfaction of the workplace environment.

    Cons

Complete and total disconnect from senior management to the facility level. The corporate office doesn't have a clue, and seemingly doesn't have an interest in getting one.

I worked at GEO Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company is a good one to work for.

    Cons

Although it is a "ZERO TOLERANCE" facility, even if you report issues with other officers, the complaints do not EVER get addressed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want the company to have a better reputation you need to address all issues professionally. In my experience, if the person being complained about is a favorite, I have experienced Wardens, Captains and Lieutenants not addressing issues. I have even experienced bullying from all levels of co-workers.

I worked at GEO Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The nature of the work is interesting, and the good employees are really good. The benefits are excellent.

    Cons

Mostly, the staff consists of disgruntled and poorly trained counselors who don't have the money to leave the area and hate their job. The pay is low and employee are lazy and just don't give a hoot. The atmosphere is beyond depressing. They are constantly hiring and must be in the VIP program with the local newspaper want ad section.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Therapeutic Community needs a real director who actually cares a teeny bit about the program. It's all about lining his pockets and taking vacations.

I worked at GEO Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The overtime was nice here when the state had none. They hired some good people as well making it fairly enjoyable.

    Cons

They as a company really do not care about your safety or input. Even if its wrong, they are always looking for a fall guy putting a huge stress on all of the officers shoulders. The pay is also a lot less than the state employees get for doing the same job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start listening to the men and women on the ground and stop looking at statistics to set policy and the company will run so much more smooth.
