I have been working at GEP full-time

    Pros

Extremely flat organization with easy access to every leader in the firm
Startup like culture in a global mid-sized organization that has presence in every major continent
Ability to wear multiple hats & play different roles, depending on your interests & skills
Transparent meritocratic culture with performance based growth opportunities
Sharp focus on client delight, through innovative and flexible solutions
Combination of product & services experience

    Cons

The flexible approach may be challenging for individuals used to the mentality of a large organization with very standard processes
The transparency on performance may not be suited for everyone and only high caliber individuals may thrive in such an environment
Client & product deadline pressures may be stressful for a brief amount of time, but can be juggled well by capable individuals

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Retain the unique culture of a flat, performance based, client-focused innovative company

I have been working at GEP full-time

    Pros

As a first-year, I was granted invaluable consulting experience and growth opportunities by directly working with clients. It was a rewarding feeling, especially coming fresh out of college and being able to quickly notice my value and the direct impact I had on projects and their success.

GEP talent pool consists of really bright individuals that keep me motivated and inspired. The supportive work environment instills confidence in me so I am ready to face the challenges that I seek in my position.

    Cons

This might not be a con for some people, but GEP offers consultants autonomy and they will provide consultants with more challenging work or responsibility to help them grow. Not every worker can handle this, but go-getters certainly thrive in this environment.

I have been working at GEP full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

An organization that has seen tremendous growth right from its inception.
Run by a Leadership team that is down to earth and willing to listen as well as having an appetite for risk.
Comprising of a young, talented and animated pool of employees who operate in a lean environment.
Providing numerous opportunities to learn and contribute to the firm outside one's roles and responsibilities.
Excellent Mentorship program up to the mid management level.

    Cons

While it does try to maintain a balance between Client and Employee satisfaction like any growing organization it puts Client first.
Like any other organization career growth depend on your visibility within the organization. Hence, one needs to look at ways to gain visibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While investment in talent is important it’s also important to invest in the processes required to run a growing organization. An area the firm has started showing signs of improvement.
Mentorship at the Sr. Management level needs to increase. While a lot is expected from talented employees the right level of mentorship should also be provided by Sr. Leaders within the organization.

I have been working at GEP full-time

    Pros

Nice people to work with. True global exposure. Flat, merit driven, people friendly culture. Good opportunities for growth if one is willing to learn fast and apply themselves.

    Cons

Typical growing pains - stretch, frequent changes
Brand still under represented in the market relative to actual capabilities - both business and employer perspectives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Retain culture as the company grows in size. Communicate more. Focus on doing a few things really well.

I have been working at GEP full-time

    Pros

Have to train yourself while management works against you. The management is far too inexperienced to offer any useful help.

    Cons

If you speak up they go out of their way to try to fire you. On this project that lasted 9 months the management team burned through 14 employees - hired and fired (a few quit). It's not the work or the client being difficult - it is the people managing the project that do not have a clue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find people with real world experience to manage your projects.

I have been working at GEP

    Pros

Excellent network of people - a lot of assets to leverage. Sometimes you need to call out for help and there is always someone to help you. The clients have high expectations and you have to manage those expectations. I have never exerpienced such a great culture where people are always willing to help you.

    Cons

One challenge was to try to understand how to work closely with different people throughout the company. My mentor helped me develop a network of partners and relationships to facilitate my understanding of our capabilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Shared Services should continue to offer lots of opportunities for employees to network outside of the office.
