    Pros

Great team-based work atmosphere. Heavy focus on professional development for entry level engineers, and the youth professionals program encourages interaction outside the workplace. The company has a lot of future potential and is rapidly developing in presence in North America.

    Cons

The current merger with CRA has been a huge distraction, with a lot of uncertainties at every step of the way. The bonus program is structured based on the performance of your whole operating center, instead of an individual office level. Do not count on a significant bonus, and your salary will not be stellar.

I have been working at GHD full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good pay and above average benefits. I work out of a remote office that was bought out by GHD a few years ago, so it still has that small company feel.

    Cons

Some projects involve way too many engineers from multiple states and/or offices. It's hard to get them to make a timely decision on issues encountered in the field. It can take weeks to get an answer on trivial things that could have been worked out locally and in a few minutes. The management structure is complicated, it's hard to tell who's in-charge of what. Also, GHD has too many acronyms for things, if you work here you know what I'm talking about!

    Pros

Good Stable Company that has its eye on Growth.
    Above average Benefits

    Cons

It is hard to get leadership involved with regular project tasking. But, peer review is readily available and compitent.

    Pros

    Great people and team players.

    Cons

Managment Oversold Opportunity, Company doesn't have bandwidth to support growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time to evaluate business units relative to the business functions of GHD. Departments with un-qualified staffing must partner to meet the needs of the normal job functions.

I have been working at GHD full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting and challenging projects. Working with people from different cultural backgrounds. Mostly good people on the front line.

    Cons

Instead of giving genuine thanks for going above and beyond and working 60 – 70 hours a week for months, SGMs constantly ask for more. People don’t have anything left to give – but the message is always the same. Work harder, work longer hours and make higher profit margins. There is a profit before people culture and you feel like number. If you think you’re a full time staff member, think again. When you don’t have billable work for more than 95% of the week, you’re expected to take leave without pay or use up your holidays. Great technical people and senior staff are resigning in droves and leaving younger staff with fewer mentors to help them develop in their careers. The IT infrastructure is archaic (Lotus Notes).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A personal word of thanks goes a long way.

I have been working at GHD full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good flexibility when needed. Caring community feel, very very friendly colleagues. Mostly approachable.

    Cons

Overworked staff with no pay rises regardless of how well you put your case forward.
Some out of touch management and incredibly poor at communication from higher up.
Staff becoming upset, bitter and disappointed with the company continuing to expect more and give nothing.
Huge focus on utilisation targets don't allow for admin, marketing or sufficient client relationship management.
Stuck in old ways, very conservative.
Lotus Notes - very outdated! Causes a lot of inefficiencies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remunerate your staff and care a little more or you will lose them and their talent.
Update systems to improve efficiencies rather than making cuts in other areas.
