I have been working at GLOBALFOUNDRIES full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good salary and benefits. Great new hire networking program. Highly data intensive company with several career tracks.

    Cons

Since it is a fab, there are crests and troughs in word demand. Upper management is trying really hard to direct focus on key issues, but can't really spend the time due to poor resource management.

    Advice to Management

Will have to be strong in identifying and separating lame ducks from gold mines and convince the workforce of ideas and visions.

I worked at GLOBALFOUNDRIES full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Location, as long as you don't mind snow Very advanced manufacturing can be interesting and challenging. Some smart people to work with

    Cons

Poor and very strict culture due to strong eastern influence Very fast paced and stressful Decisions are mostly near sighted with little effort to improve things long term Very poor software, needs to get with the times.

    Advice to Management

You've made good changes in 2014, please keep then up and put more of an emphasis on employee happiness instead of only fab efficiency. Have a culture of good people that get the job done instead of a "culture of execution", employees aren't machines...

I worked at GLOBALFOUNDRIES as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

-decent hourly wage ($22/hr) -lots of growth; higher than average possibility of future opportunities -great cafeteria

    Cons

-really huge (lots of people, takes forever just to park and walk in from lot) -tons of meetings -total cubicle farm (bland, no personality, easy to get lost) -company hierarchy feels virtually non-existent; most mid-managers are in the farm with you (who's actually in charge here?) -Malta, NY location is fairly remote -commute was pretty intense

    Advice to Management

Nothing comes to mind, except maybe allow us to personalize the facility more so it doesn't feel like one giant, drab office space.
