    Collaborative environment. People genuinely seem to care about what they are doing. I have nothing but good things to say about being here.

    I worked at GN ReSound full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    GN ReSound provides advanced education on their products and they train their employees well. Employees are friendly and welcoming to new employees. Employee dedication is above and beyond expectations. Human resources values their employees and shows initiative towards meeting employees concerns.

    Cons

    Management intends to favor obedience and compliance verses dedication and educated participation in suggestive innovative ideas from their employees. Moral is very poor and employees are overworked. Employees are often shuffled throughout various departments where they are not trained, nor experienced in performance of duties that they may be placed upon. Temps are utilized most often during times that require additional help but are unable to be placed on permanently for gainful employment. GN ReSound management intends to take shortcuts in performance and financial duties. Which in this case, it intends to further cause more problems within company moral and problem solving in department performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Follow through intends to be problematic for management, as well, willingness to listen to new innovative ideas from employees. Management needs to spend more time creating new innovative ideas that are more effective. Management needs steer away from taking too many shortcuts to meet quarterly performance. Management needs to be reminded as to why they made their products in the first place verses being preoccupied with branding their name and gaining more status quotas on financial gain.

    Oppressive and depressive work culture towards employees. No open door policy between functionary and management welcome

    Pros

    Human resources very proactive, and receptive to individual needs of employees. Tries very hard to mediate and establish a proactive repair plan for issue (s) at hand.

    Cons

    Employee moral is very low due to ongoing and pervasive petty and trivial treatment towards employees. Rampant favoritism abounds and negative verbal treatment from some supervisors unaddressed. Management will not address the concerns of thier employees. This ongoing dysfunction seems to catch on with newly promoted leads and supervisors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop treating great employees like children at daycare. Stop patronizing and Listen and act on employee concerns..they are legit.

    Pros

    Work/family balance is important to this company. Coworkers are fantastic and with a few exceptions there is a lot of teamwork within and between different departments. The company is strong, growing, and makes excellent products.

    Cons

    Management doesn't tend to listen to suggestions or complaints made by employees. There seems to be quite a bit of distance between management and employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You may want to keep in mind that those in direct contact with the customer are the ones who truly know what the customer wants. It would be worthwhile to listen to their suggestions a bit more closely.

    Pros

    Well compensated, very empowered to make decisions, extensive training. Great location, wonderful people to work with. The hours were normal business hours. After putting in 3 years the pto goes up which was generous.

    Cons

    politics. customer service department as a whole was looked down upon. No where to move up within the company. The position was very mundane, same thing everyday over and over, not very much variety.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    you get more out of employees with praise then with punishment. Sit with Customer Care at least once a year to find out what callers are calling in about.

    Pros

    The product helps improve the quality of life for many people with hearing loss. The people are generally competent and easy to work with. There is a tendency to push the envelope on technology, which is a good thing, since some of those technologies become a significant competitive advantage.

    Cons

    Management of certain aspects of the company are questionable with negative outcomes proving out bad decisions. As a Danish owned company there is a cultural bias towards group think. There are also some significant differences in how people are treated. There's a general sense of inequity.

    Understand and properly handle risk. Recognize and reward talent.

    Pros

    Lots of parking available.

    Dannish and U.S. head office team is wonderful to work with.

    Compensation was fair.

    Cons

    Extremely clickish. The Cdn head office is mainly run by 3 people, if you don't walk, talk or move exactly as they wish - you're banned. They sabbatoge you into either being let go or quitting. Any type of aspiration to succeed is squashed.

    There is no room for growth, both in career or personal.

    The whole experience was very disappointing.

    I was promised an office and given a cubicle, with an excuse to why the office wasn't available.

    There was so much backstabbing, no one worked as a team toward one goal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Fire everyone in the Toronto management team and get a new team that has the same work ethics and attitude as the Dannish and U.S. teams.
