If you don't need a life outside of GSEC this is a place for you.

Operations Specialist (Former Employee) Jersey City, NJ

ProsSalaries are good and the benefits are out of control.

ConsThere's a price you pay for those benefits and the salary. You're expected to work 12 hrs or more everyday. No time for homelife.

Advice to Senior ManagementSome people want to spend more time at home. You make comments about bankers hours when anyone wants to go home after a 10 hr day, Stop making it hard for people to leave and feeling uncomfortable for leaving.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

ProsYou work in a great enviornment w/people that are very helpful. The food is decent here but your stuck here all day

ConsLong hours, make you work more than you should. I would not recommend this job if you don't like to work long.

Advice to Senior ManagementLess working hours, more compenstation, flex time should be mandatory. I would consider that burnout factor is high and would really reduce hour

You need to kiss the right people's @ss to succeed at GSEC.

Financial Analyst (Former Employee) Jersey City, NJ

    ProsMoney and benefits of course!

ConsYou need to be friends with the right people to suceed.

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior Management should play a more active role in knowing the performance of their staff as oppose to only listening to the team leaders that manage the group. Team leaders say what they want senior management to know.

A good first job, probably not a career

Vice President (Former Employee) Jersey City, NJ

ProsGreat people who are fun to work with

ConsGSEC employees do not feel a core part of Goldman Sachs.
There are limited opportunities for advancement within that business, and probably not to senior leadership.
The best and brightest at Goldman don't stay at GSEC even if they start there-- the lucky ones find their way back to GS proper, and the rest leave for other firms or industries.
The end (not even the middle) of nowhere in JC

Advice to Senior ManagementThink hard about how to keep the very talented employees engaged-- the job isn't that exciting so finding new challenges is key.
