I have been working at GSEC

    Pros

Management is very friendly and approachable. The pay is very competitive and the benefits are second to none. A great place to work.

    Cons

The hours could be better and there could be a more predictable bonus formula in place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please continue to make GSEC a fun and lucrative place to work.

I have been working at GSEC

    Pros

You work in a great enviornment w/people that are very helpful. The food is decent here but your stuck here all day

    Cons

Long hours, make you work more than you should. I would not recommend this job if you don't like to work long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less working hours, more compenstation, flex time should be mandatory. I would consider that burnout factor is high and would really reduce hour

    I worked at GSEC

    Pros

great teamwork as others have mentioned. . almost a lockstep sense of promotion and benefits since (most) everyone is highly qualified. prob most meritocratic firm on the st, looks solid on the resume for post-gs opportunities.

    Cons

"culture" is a bit ambiguous - mostly how much work can you handle? long hours, but that is true of all firms. mostly you either cut it, or you don't, and unless you are a superstar, this is mostly by "feel" or fit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

better benefits in terms of time off, more analyst-friendly workplace. people are great to work with, but more proactive career advancement tools would be great.

    Pros

    Money and benefits of course!

    Cons

You need to be friends with the right people to suceed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior Management should play a more active role in knowing the performance of their staff as oppose to only listening to the team leaders that manage the group. Team leaders say what they want senior management to know.

    I worked at GSEC

    Pros

It is a great company to work for along with it being a # 1 investment bank amongst its competitors. Also the employees at the company are smart and have a great work ethic along with loving to work for the company. A sense of a proud feelings is there when you work for goldman sachs

    Cons

seems like you have very little room for advacement, espeically out of the operations department. In addition, it felt that if you were in operations you were stuck there for a very long time with the fact that the program lasts 18 months before any sort of move is available which in turn is unlikely to happen either way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To be more open to all types of workers from all regions for the front office jobs and not only those from ivy leagues.

  7. Goldman is a great place to work as an Analyst Developer if you're smart and hard-working.

I have been working at GSEC

    Pros

Career development, professional growth. You get great experience and gain a lot of confidence working for Goldman. You get great exposure to the financial industry, as well as cutting-edge trading technology. You work long hours, but management is flexible as far as taking time off and leaving the office a little early, etc. Salary is pretty good as well, but not as exceptional as most people think.

    Cons

Long hours, lots of work, pressure, deadlines. You also get the feeling that compensation is not distributed fairly enough, like it's based more on popularity and politics than contributions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward the workers who contribute, not the ones who "play the game" best. Other than that, I think management is very effective.

I have been working at GSEC

    Pros

The place is full of determined people who will do very well in the industry so you will learn alot if you join. The people are helpful and knowledgable. The growth of the firm is sustainable and the firm is well diversified which means come bonus time youll be safe. No real downsides apart from the hours. It completely depends on what type of person you are, if you willing to work, the banks good to you, if your not, they will practically throw you out. So be ready to work when joining the firm and work hard! Hope this helps.

    Cons

Not too many downsides to report.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would say keep doing whtat your doing

    I worked at GSEC

    Pros

Great people who are fun to work with

    Cons

GSEC employees do not feel a core part of Goldman Sachs.
There are limited opportunities for advancement within that business, and probably not to senior leadership.
The best and brightest at Goldman don't stay at GSEC even if they start there-- the lucky ones find their way back to GS proper, and the rest leave for other firms or industries.
The end (not even the middle) of nowhere in JC

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think hard about how to keep the very talented employees engaged-- the job isn't that exciting so finding new challenges is key.
