I have been working at GSI Group full-time

    Pros

GSI has a good benefits package and has competitive salaries. There are multiple divisions, with a number of opportunities in each for operations, product management, and engineering.

    Cons

GSI has become more corporate in recent years. These days, the bottom line is sometimes put ahead of the employees interests.

    Pros

no insane overtime employees get along well with each other

    Cons

Management treats employees like commodities, hired and fired like short-order cooks Management milking core groups to fund fooling acquisitions Hiring binge on drones, i.e. product marketing managers while coring out engineering Only go here if you’re desperate

    Cons

a bit disorganized. It's hard to decipher who the leadership team is. For the most part, everyone is very kids and helpful. Those that aren't, AREN'T!!

    Advice to Management

Be more hands on with subordinates

I have been working at GSI Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company has renewed the management team in many areas. Very competent and building a strong company You really feel you are making an impact You can wear multiple hats which increases the learning experience and potentially career growth It is a small company getting bigger so you can still have the feel of a small company and have an entrepreneur mind set You are empowered to make change happen Benefits are good

    Cons

There is not real cons I see at this stage. There is a lot of work as other reviews suggest but then it is a job so you would expect this. The company is growing so it means that we have to work hard to get there. A lot of work yes but with a sentiment of satisfaction at the end of the day.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work Put teams and customers even further at the center of what we do. Communicate

  8. Intense, fast-paced and productive environment with supportive, open and helpful teams.

    Pros

The people. Clean, open, spacious, modern and well-lit environment. Food on the premises for those who do not have time to go out.

    Cons

It's a pro and a con. While it's great to be constantly busy, some people take on too much or too much is thrust upon them.

  9. Great company, skilled management and emerging culture.

Not really too many cons at all. This is a great company that is on the rise.

I worked at GSI Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It is OK job with a reasonable benefits, many good employees

    Cons

It is a pay check, not much more. No growth opportunity, stagnant outdated technologies without uptick potential, lots of politics, management has neither clear vision nor appreciation of engineering excellence.

    Advice to Management

Company needs new technologies/products to survive. 30 years old technology will not keep it afloat forever. Do something about it.

I worked at GSI Group full-time

    Pros

Seems great at first, but then you find that many people are just phony.

    Cons

Ridiculous hierarchy, Zero work-life balance, "boys club" atmosphere, general fear or upper management.

    Advice to Management

Employees are afraid of upper management. This is not an effective way to run a company.
