    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsHigh values which are carried through all aspects of the job. Great compensation and work/life balance.

ConsSlow to adopt change. Understandable given the size and scope of the business units.

Advice to Senior ManagementWe are moving in the right direction.

    Very disorganized

Executive Dental Consultant (Current Employee) Boston, MA

ProsSalary, benefits, good brands, working from home

ConsSenior leaders are serious micro managers. Not interested in building relationships, more interested in their flawed culture. All about building phoney numbers. Sales calls are a joke. All they care about how many false numbers they can get from the doctor. Not real world, everything is drop down boxes.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart being leaders and seriously work on fostering a positive environment. Start looking for people that are creative versus the idiots who just do what their told

Poor leadership at the SVP level at GSK Consumer Healthcare

Business Leader (Current Employee) Parsippany, NJ

ProsSalary and benefits are reasonable, good teammates

ConsDiversity is not embraced at GSK Consumer, if you are from a diverse background you will be unlikely to be successful and will not have the same opportunities to progress. The very senior leadership acts like 'old boys club'.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou really need to embrace diversity and give people an opportunity to demonstrate success. I would look to replace the SVP leadership.

Great sense of ethics and professionalism.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Clifton, NJ

    ConsCompany moved out of state.

    Advice to Senior ManagementNone.

GSK - a good place to work and learn.

Senior Development Engineer (Former Employee) Parsippany, NJ

ProsI like the GSK culture of empowerment allowing each individual to plan and execute their development plans in order to achieve both the individual and company's goal.

ConsFrequent changes in the business models led to major reorganization and lay offs. These reorg often requires filling new position in haste leading to the hiring of unqualified and inexperienced managers who lacks the skill to lead and manage teams. I saw how the Panadol team was impacted by this.

Advice to Senior ManagementExercise due diligence in hiring. A perfect resume invites doubt. Industry references will be more reliable.

Once a great company - Becoming more and more cut throat

    Director (Former Employee) Parsippany, NJ

ProsGlobal experience, diverse range of OTC brands, Opportunity to move into other roles if so desired. Very good benefits. Pay scale is on par with industry standards

ConsRoom for advancement mostly if you are British - with some exceptions; depends on your manager. Company leadership used to value its people. Now, not so much.

Advice to Senior ManagementSay what you mean. Mean what you say. Remember that your biggest asset is your people. The GSK values of transparency and integrity mean nothing if you don't practice what you preach.

    Not your average 9-5 job

Bench Scientist Scientist I (Current Employee) King of Prussia, PA

ProsAssociates are really nice and helpful at times. There is a flexible schedule where work can work around your life which is nice if you have personal appointments.

ConsWorking over the normal 40 hours a week. Not enough direction from management as to the direction the department is taking. Short staff in the laboratory. There seems to be an air of just hiring a lot of CROs and not actual permanent workers. There isn't a lot of opportunities to grow in this department.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe better with communication! Cannot express this enough. Information from higher management doesn't always assimilate down to lab workers. Need more current and constructive feedback.

Consumer Health Care Company with a lot of potential

    Director (Current Employee) Parsippany, NJ

ProsGood company to work for; great colleagues and peers. Committed to building a strong consumer pipeline rooted in innovation. Opportunity for career advancement if you are in good graces with upper management

ConsWork life balance not where it needs to be; The company grants a lot of PTA however most times you are working 24/7. Pockets of Mediocrity in Senior management and Commercial teams

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior management needs to adhere more to the values that are preached in the company. When it comes down to it, you are just a number. Talk the talk - but need to walk the walk
