Pros
work culture is nice
young crowd
great salaries & benefits
Cons
competition among employees.
unnecessary training and seminars
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing as such
Pros
A big organisation, with good focus on people's skills development and training. Working on large scale projects gives opportunities of growth and learning new skills.
Cons
Due to the size of the organisation, new opportunities are not always available and career development is not always easy
Pros
Open culture about interacting with superiors and top management. Strong commitment to one area of interest epecially future is determined not just by one function supervision but how other departments feel about the candidate
Cons
Focus on single brand that might lead to market detoriaration. Need to quickly understand the key developments and build another Horlicks brand.
Advice to Senior Management
International exposure of employees and tranferability of skills across geographies is critical. Also having 3 entities in India doesnot provide any synergies
Pros
Most people would tell you that GSK fostered a great work life balance. They also have great training programs and are big advocated of personal development.
Cons
Several, significant rounds of downsizing continue to make the office a tough place to work. Headquarters outside of the U.S.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide some level of clarity as to when the Consumer Healthcare sector downsizing will be complete? Is there any end in sight? It's been a tough road for those still there.
Pros
Great company to work for. Family friendly policies
Cons
Where GSK is situated and current work load
Advice to Senior Management
no advice
Pros
Competent Leaders who know what they are doing. Good stable place to work . Strong expertise in their chosen category and industry
Cons
Can get to be a bit slow. The industry is quite stable so limited new growth opportunities. Not the most innovative company
Advice to Senior Management
Bring in more opportunities for innovation. Take more risks. Work harder to ensure that employees have a stable work life balance.
Pros
Salary but you pay a price.
Cons
No opportunities of promotion despite having a 'Performance Development Plan' and constantly achieving and exceeding targets. You can train and develop to your hearts content and strive to do well but at the end of the day it's up to the line managers who they employ. I know many people high up in the company who have been forced out of their department due to changes and bad management. Went from having a great job to having no proper job description and being kept on because of my headcount.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your staff and create opportunities for people that have dedicated many years of their life working for the company. Industrial Placement Students are given priority with regards to promotional opportunities and you work life is in the hands of your line manager.
Pros
Good salary , good working environment, development opportunities
Cons
Poor promotion prospects, minimal development opprotunies
Pros
It's a global company that contributes to world pharmceutical development and improved consumer healthcare. opportunities abound and depending on your location career development is encouraging.
Cons
Company culture is not consistent across all markets as it should be, so mobility can be difficult, which can be dissapointing for the ambitious.
Advice to Senior Management
While implementing change is never easy, it must be consistent attempted or improvements are always never met. Quality is a GSK value and in a changing world to maintain quality
Pros
Interesting projects with many intelligent people. There are opportunities to work in areas of particular interest to you. Some great managers. Opportunities for training.
Cons
Decent work-life balance, but could be better. Pay can be at lower end for similar work at other pharma companies.
Advice to Senior Management
Better pay and better work life balance would be helpful, but mostly GSK is a great company to work for.
