Solid company; great products

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Waukesha, WI

I have been working at Gaco Western full-time for more than 3 years

ProsBeen around since 1955; steady growth and great products; strong sales and support; good company Core Values.

ConsHaving the corporate office in Seattle WA and the manufacturing / R&D facility in Milwaukee WI has it's challenges, but overall this company does it right. I have worked for a lot worse companies, that's for sure.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't forget that non-management employees are just as important as management; if they're happy, customers will be too. If they're not, either will customers. Good managers are the key to any successful company.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Ethics & Integrity

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Seattle, WA

I have been working at Gaco Western full-time for more than a year

ProsGaco exemplifies their core values - they treat people with dignity and respect, they take the time to listen to their employees and empower them to do the right thing. The ethics and integrity under which they operate is not just fluff, it is practiced every day.

ConsThe challenge of having such a great core team is scaling - it's hard to grow when the bar is set so high!

ProsGood staff mostly ...training is good..... Benefits are good...

ConsWow! I did not know this type of ethic still exists. Resting on the laurels of those that came before will not maintain a strong future.

Dedicated front line employees, upper management has inflated egos

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Gaco Western full-time

Prosproducts, lower level employees, pay and benefits fairly competitive

ConsSome unqualified senior managers. Lots of turnover in manufacturing staff.

Advice to Senior ManagementAcknowledge some of you are in over your heads. Take care of problems, don't just cover them up.

Trouble on the water

Area Manager (Former Employee)
Seattle, WA

I worked at Gaco Western

ProsGood products, multiple lines, excellent front line staff, customer & tech service above average, opportunity to grow if supported by management,

ConsNo support from upper management Sales VP, stuck in the past with marketing & support materials, management says one thing and does another, soft market right now (commercial coatings), Core values posted but not really followed,

Advice to Senior ManagementDo what you say you would do, give better support to the sales staff, get out of the 80's, the Gaco Revolution is a farce, look at your competition.
