    Pros

Their pay for teachers has recently increased to comparable rates of surrounding districts.

    Cons

The administration has no direction. They have no vision for the future. They merely "band-aid" each issues as it arises.

    Pros

The best part of working for any school district as an employee the main pros are the Summer Benefits, as a Teachers Aid you get to do many things that teachers do except teach the class. Co- workers are wonderful I truly love my team and as well as the administrators they really look out for you.

    Cons

Poor Pay scale, as a Teachers Aid you have many duties like a teacher but you don't get pay like one or even close to it, the teachers tend to become very lazy when they have an Aid in the classroom and they really need more training as a teacher and a review of what their aids suppose to do in the classroom I see it as there should be a teacher and Aid training together so there will not be any confusion on what each individuals roles are in a classroom.

    Advice to Management

The very important training i advise the district to do is a Teacher and Aid training together so there will not be any confusion on what each individuals roles are in a classroom. More surprise supervision in the classrooms were neither the teacher or the Aid knows that a supervisor is coming to check on the classroom, because when one of them knows about the administrator coming they tend to ACTUALLY work and Carrie on their job responsibilities.

    Pros

Galena Park is a family-friendly district that welcomes creativity, gives new teachers a chance to begin their career with support and training, and respects it seasoned teachers. When districts throughout the Houston area laid teachers and other staff off, Galena Park adjusted so that it's employees had job security.

    Cons

There are too many data meetings and focus on standardized test. Teachers are required to work excessively without compensation. There is a lot of favoritism and respect to race when it comes to advancement.

    Advice to Management

When schools are doing well academically, ease up on them and focus on those who need help the most.

    Pros

Will provide a lot of staff development on campus and afterschool. Small district schools are close to each other. Technology Department and Science Department is very organized.

    Cons

Insurance is very high. The reading department needs a litlle more work on meeting students needs.

    Advice to Management

Principals really need to be fair in their decision making. Tell us the good, bad, and ugly we are all adults and will be able to handle the truth.

    Pros

Every day was a new day...this is especially true of the area - that is what made it worthwhile.

    Cons

Long hours outside of the classroom - BUT that is a given teaching - however, once you have a family, this becomes difficult.
