    Pros

Overall good place to work. Pay is good for the work performed. Likes to promote from within.

    Cons

Sometimes upper management seems disconnected from the operation & thorough planning of new processes is seldom thought out.

    Advice to Management

Plan out new processes instead of implementing them and working out bugs as they come across.

    Pros

The people and corporate culture are truly amazing. Every day is enjoyable both from being refreshed (work-life balance) and from interacting with your colleagues and management. Energetic atmosphere for anyone even remotely interested in the world of gaming.

    Cons

Many areas where older, less sophisticated technologies are still embedded, which often inhibits the company from doing truly cutting edge things company wide.

    Advice to Management

The open door policy on the executive level is a great one. Keep encouraging your people to come up and share!

    Pros

The only positive thing I can comment on is that GameStop does have good health insurance that is quite affordable for those who are making minimum wage at the brick and mortar stores and at corporate. That doesn't mean you're ever allowed time off of work to actually use said health insurance, but it's nice to know that it's there in case of emergency.

    Cons

The biggest issue with working corporate at GameStop is the lack of joy in the environment. For a company that sells video games, you'd think it would be fun. But everything is based on sales, numbers, pushing the Edge Card, pushing promotions, pushing rewards, and having 20 managers tell you to do one task in 50 different ways.

There are no rewards for being an employee here. You show up for a paycheck. They don't offer bonuses for outstanding work. Not even a pizza once every couple of months just to say "thank you for being our employees."

The business culture is about sales, numbers, and keeping you tied to your desk. If you need to take time off for a doctor's visit? Too bad. Schedule it during your days off work (which if you're Monday-Friday is near impossible). Got an emergency? Oh well. You can't leave until your shift is over. I've missed a family funeral because I was threatened with a pink slip. I didn't take off a single day over a 2 year period, and for one day (it was a half day no less) I was refused to attend a funeral for a close family member.

GameStop is not an environment you want to get yourself involved with. Management is hired to keep you feeling like a pawn. The leadership doesn't care about you, because you can easily be replaced by someone else who is willing to play their game and get a paycheck. Save yourself the trouble and find a company that cares about your.

    Advice to Management

    Quit.

The only way the company will grow and improve is if you leave and let your employees TRY to make change for the better.
