I have been working at GameStop full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Working at the corporate office has been an excellent experience. There is no perfect workplace, but GameStop does a great job in striving to provide the best work environment possible.
     - Fun atmosphere while creating an unrelenting emphasis on providing the best possible solution to our internal customers.
     - GameStop is an incredible corporate giver. We have multiple ways to give to the community through the Ronald McDonald House, Make a Wish, and support of our veterans.
     - The company really does care about the employees.
     - The ability for career progression. I've seen several employees promoted from within.

    Cons

For me it's location... 25 mile drive to and from work. However, it's worth the drive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the communication up about the strategy of the company. For corporate office employees, it would probably help to remove the 90 day delay for benefits.

    Pros

GameStop gave me valuable work experience that other companies will desire. Allowed me to work with a lot great people.

    Cons

Compensation was well below industry standards. Corporate offices were very cramped and lacked sufficient parking. Company didn't spend a lot of money improving the building or on amenities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to work on improving employee morale and reducing personnel turnover.

    Pros

Fun people and interesting work. Lateral mobility is encouraged.

    Cons

The future of the gaming industry is bleak and new ventures are not being properly managed. While management is aware of the problem of an increasing market share in a dwindling market, new ventures are not profitable.
The entrepreneurial spirit which was once prevalent has been replaced with heavy overhead and technical debt.
Work / Life balance is not important, only delivery of moving targets.

I worked at GameStop full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You can wear jeans every day. The people here care about their work. You can talk to anyone, even the upper management supports an open door policy.

    Cons

There are a lot of politics that impact the teams at play. The walk from the parking lot is long and in the heat / rain / wind and your car will not have much shade.
